These could be any Terrorists... Elf, IRA, Al-Queada. What would happen if they were to somehow get the bomb dropped or detonated in NY LA London Paris Tel Aviv or DC? What do you think would happen finacially?
To me, it's never been a question of "what if" but when and where. The genie has been out of the bottle for a long time. IMO, the "good" news (if there could be such a thing as good news in such a case) would be that all nations would suddenly be faced to confront their mutual vulnerabilities and work together to resolve disputes. Sort of like a "Detente for the new Millenium".
GATER, I can only see backlashes against anyone who could be considered eligible for the organizations mentioned above. Muslims, Irish, Enviromentalists... it would be dark days for anyone who would fall into the catagory.
BBnP4l - Just my opinion but I think the affects would reach far beyond any specific "terrorist" organization. I'm looking at a bigger picture through this smaller one...Chernobyl. IMHO, this single isolated event forced many nations to rethink how they built and monitored nuclear reactors. Let's suppose it was some radical enviromental group and they used a limited nuke on an SUV dealership in a mid-sized US town. IMO, the resultant and horrid publicity would air immediately worldwide. How many regimes and political entities worldwide would suddenly feel threatened? IMO, the overwhelmingly vast majority. At the UN, that event and the subsequent desire for stability and the status quo would unite a very large and politically diverse group. Obviously, I can't prove it...but it's just my gut level feeling. This would be the new face of terrorism and it would have major shock value (absolutely no pun intended).
Well if they use it on a major city you can expect: 1.martial law .The national guard would trap citizens in your city so you cant move your family,thus makeing you a sheep behind the gate and a slave. 2.total economic collapse. Real estate worthless in the big cities,while real estate in rural areas will go UP in value. 3.If it happens on D.C.,there would be the shadow government running things,to which we never voted them in. It would basically be communism,but Americans wouldnt want to call it communism since American pride would be so high after this.But nonetheless,our freedoms would be gone completely,the new gov body would be very strict such as curfews and no firearms. 4.Im not a economic wizard,but I imagine that every american would not buy anything(thus retail stores would go bankrupt) and would save the money.Probably not paying income taxes filed,and basically ALOT of jobs would be lost immediately. This in turn creates a 1930's scenario but with much more violence since society today has more arms. Oh yeh,expect total stoppage of firearms sells,(the gov will say its to "protect"us) so if you want to protect your family,better get a gun.ammo now. Expect inner city people(poor,scared of more nukes) to evacuate and try to take refuge in rich areas for instance like Cinco Ranch,Sugar land,Kingwood. If 200 poor armed folks wanted to break into your house to take over,steal cars,take your riches,you wouldnt be able to stop them.Imagine rodney king riots,but 100000 x worse.Why would the cops protect you? They themselves will be worried about thier own families to worry about you. Oh,and since you asked this question shows how much out of the loop you really are. No offense.But the news has even said that 100+ suitcase nukes are "missing" and that Russia wont declare where they are. The usa media thinks they have either been sold to arab terrorists,or stolen by arab terrorists.You might ask why dont terrorist use them now? Simple. You might also think that this would have the world unite with USA. Wrong. Already the world is against this Iraq War. What if,Bush decides that Iran has nukes(I know there is plans on the table as I speak to invade Iran and N.Korea),and we must invade and attack them to. The world would really be against this. Then the terrorists use the bomb,and the world would actually laugh at us in a way that the usa started the war in the first place so we get no sympathy. Also,the panic amung citizens would be so great,that I imagine that if the government ever wanted to mark or implant you with a tracking device in your hand(like it says in the bible revelations) then this time would be the time to do it. Amercians dont want their freedoms stopped now,or tracked now by satelites. However,the gov knows that if people are so scared,and think that by traceing everyone we can track down more terrorists and stop any future nuke attacks,then americans will be suckered into a tracking device to "protect our freedoms". Also,Oliver North has said that we have satelites that watch every sq mile of the usa and can "see" the uranium and radiological atoms anywhere.So the theory is if a bomb was ever to "smuggle in" then ,the gov already knew it,planned it,didnt stop it. You might ask why the hell would our own gov want to do this? Thats another loooong story. But I researched it,and can win a debate on this ,but I dont feel like it,since it will spawn a flame war. I have links with more background info on all of this,but dont want to spam by putting links up that many here will find the truth offensive so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Just to be quick, another theory I have is what if this war on terrorism goes so long,that invading countries like Iran,Iraq,end up ruining our economy anyways. IN that case the gov wouldnt care if a nuke ruins our economy. Americans and the world dont want us to be "to violent" and just drop h-bombs right now on Iran and Iraq killing all the arabs and muslims. Trust me,they dont. military does,but the ordinary citizens of america dont want to "start" a nuke war. However,by having a nuke on usa soil,that gives our new gov an excuse to END the war on terrorism immediatly by dropping h-bombs on all the cities on Iran,Iraq,and whoever else.That way we save money,dont have to spend 100 billion in rebuilding it,since they "nuked us first" and thus helping our economy. Also the president who does uses the nukes,would then look "great" and a war hero for ending terrorism. What I dont understand though,is if russia is missing 100 nukes,why would terrorism ever stop? I would wonder why Osama doesnt just use 1 nuke after another on every city in amercia after we retialiate with nukes on iran,iraq? So basically I have no idea what Im talking about. IRA and Al Quaeda are totally different. IRA would NEVER use a nuclear bomb - their area of interest is local/regional. Al Quaeda WOULD use a nuclear bomb, I am pretty sure about that.

Have you ever read anything about the IRA? They only operate in Great Britain (or, in the past, to a very limited extent, against British forces or government entities stationed abroad), and they have no reason whatsoever (even in their twisted minds) to use a nuclear bomb. Apples and Oranges.
