Luke really should stay til a great roster opens up for him or the Warriors magic runs out. I agree with everything his dad said.

Can Luke Walton make Harden play defense?

The thing about Luke Walton is, he's learned from Kerr and Jackson..Lute Olson...and technically from Pop through Kerr, as well. And regardless of how talented the Warriors are, he still had to manage them full time for most of the season..probably not very difficult, but he could have messed it up. It takes a decent amount of competence not to, over that long.

That's at least worth an interview.

Not taking anything away from Luke but when a system is in place and everyone is bought in like gsw is, its pretty hard to mess that up. I wonder how he would do taking over a team like the Rockets the way JB did..

So if Walton got the job, you wouldn't jump off a cliff? You might actually get excited? I know you've followed the Warriors much more than I have.

Here's the thing about Luke Walton. If you watched the Warriors games he coached, he coached them very well especially the very close games where coaching makes all the difference in the end unlike what Morey preaches.

Just looking at the close games that the warriors had at <10 pt differential or games that Warriors lost before Kerr came back there were 18 (9 games <5 pt differential). Of those 18, the warriors lost 4 games. Of those 4 lost games, the warriors were blown out in 3. So really there was only 1 loss that came down to a single possession where coaching definitely matters.

-Luke Walton coached 3 OT victory games

-There narrowest margin of defeat was by 2 in Denver

-In those 18 games that were nailbiters, 1 was lost by 2 pts and 14 came down to the final quarter. These were games he coached well in the 4th quarter and drew up plays leading to great shots for the warriors.

-Can't believe people are comparing JBB to Luke Walton. He has never played on an NBA level and has never experienced what it means to win an NBA championship or what it takes.

-Luke Walton definitely had his fair share of egos especially in Kobe Bryant. Its not hard to imagine that he could definitely handle Harden

-You guys are forgetting Luke Walton's time as a player on that Lakers in those 2 championship runs in 2009 & 2010. Though he did not player sig. minutes he had a HUGE role behind the scenes, in practice, and on the sidelines. The Lakers could've bought out his contract or traded him but instead kept him.

-He was a high basketball IQ player that Phil kept on the roster and used him extensively in practice because he was capable of teaching his teammates the triangle and executing it extremely well. He is more than capable of implementing a system.

Like we said Resinator, these guys are tested and know what to do, not saying they dont require coaching.

Head coach of Lakers is a better job for him. He has roots there and the Lakers core is more promising. They have a huge cap room to work with and a top pick.

No thanks. I don't want any coaches from GSW because differentiating between actual coaching ability and just the strength of the roster is tough.

So we got the permission for nothing
    Didnt even start the interview.

I dont care because I didnt want him but it seems to me that he found the Lakers job more appealing than the Rockets.

That sucks, good luck to him and his new job, hopefully he doesn't get fired as quickly as all the other recent Laker HC's.

So Thibs, Brooks and Walton off the market.
