If we win next game, it will go to 7 games. No way the curry-less Warriors shoot like they did in 2nd half of gm 4. NO WAY. I think we have a decent shot at winning the next game. All the pressure is on the rest of the Warriors team not to lose to an 8th seed. They play tight. We win next two games. Game 6 will be a stomping of the Warriors. Game 7 will be 5 on 8 but if Howard and harden play lights out, and get a little help from DMO and Beasley they could steal game 7 and the series. BUT, they MUST stop the BS outlet pass to the OTHER team. among other things.
there is no reason to believe this team will be different. all year they teased us with games where we thought they turned the corner. even now, they have failed to take advantage of what is in front of them. and its so weird, I can't explain it. we were tied with them going into the half! everybody was happy and having fun. then we get our asses beat. wtf
Rox got complacent. BJ didn't prep them and the Warriors were like a cornered animal- all adrenaline.
Yep. That second half last night finally convinced me that it's not going to happen this year. If we couldn't put them down after being tied at halftime, on our home court, with their star player out, then winning three in a row is nearly impossible. The rest of the Warriors were in perfect position to be rattled to the core when Curry went down -- all we had to do was play our asses off in the third quarter and the doubt would have crept in. They would've been on their heels for the rest of the series. Instead, we went on vacation and let them build their confidence about winning without their leader. I'd love nothing more than for MY team to be the one that bounces these arrogant a-holes out of the postseason, but instead I'll probably end up cheering for the Clippers or Spurs to get the job done. <BR>
This is real life, we can't just all of a sudden not be dysfunctional, it just doesn't work like that. We have enough sample of 82 games for anyone to realize that we are a mess on all levels and it's not going to be fixed all of a sudden in the playoffs.
Clutch Do you get a sense around the organization that they know there is a talent problem on the roster? Do they see that outside of dwight and harden we have a lot of players that are better suited for the bench or not playing at all? Just wondering because I think that's holding this team back more than coaching and effort. At some point effort does not get you wins and that magnifies more in the postseason.
Well, I'm not Clutch but I think I can answer this question. Sure there may be a small talent disparity, but what you are basically seeing is a team that is effed chemistry wise, has lost so many games and had so many lockerroom scenes that they themselves have already thought they've lost. Harden and Howard on your team should net you more than the 5th seed....and the way the conference has been this year there are no excuses. We can talk about talent all we want, but like clutch said earlier, its a problem down to the core, and I'll add....the basketball culture that rockets have built.
I wish I shared your optimism, but my hope is not for it not to turn into a total bloodbath. I'd like to see a helluva lot more Rockets pride out there, and if they go out, at least they should go out swinging.
If the Rockets can get a lead, slow down the game once they have the lead by posting up Donatas and being careful with the ball, then maybe they have a shot to win a couple of games.
the key to success might be benching Dwight for good, at least in that way we have a center who cares enough to challenge shots instead of just looking to grab rebounds
beat the warriors and clippers sans curry and chris paul. the thunder and westbrook breaks tony parkers' back, durant breaks Ginobli's vagina, and poor old duncan breaks his back. kawhi still beats the thunder but is exhausted, the rockets then beat another depleted team in the WCF. and proceed to hand lebron his coveted cavs title on a silver platter. it's obvious. it's annoying. but it will likely happen.
