Hahaha. I think 5 years ago I had a point as well. Fact of the matter is Terry was brought in as a vet who can shoot and he is an all time great shooter. Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Reggie Miller (his peers) is good company.
Les should hire Ferry as GM, fire Morey. I believe Ferry can build a champion team around Harden at once
Any line up without a declining center who sulks if he doesn't get touches in the post even though can't do jack sh** without getting hacked and miss bunch of free throws, would be a significant improvement. just kills the whole momentum whenever that happens, smh.
yeah it's funny how even the things you do well get complained about when you have this kind of season.
Is he a poor shooter? Terry was meant to play the Ray Allen role on the heat; be a veteran leader in the locker room and drain some 3's.
If only there was a time and place where the Rockets could look at young talent and be guaranteed a chance to pick from a pool of players based on where they finished the season before. But they made the playoffs.
We've already checked that box, and it's obviously Harden. Only someone completely biased against him would suggest otherwise
Just had a look at the free agency coming up. There's definitely some quality there that fit needs for this team. Some names that popped out to me: Bazemore (sneaky good) Fournier (already talked about him before, would be awesome) Barbossa Dudley Beal Gordon Wesley Johnson (would be better than Brewer 100%). There's also some solid big men on the market this season. You could do worse than Darrell Arthur as an insurance big who can stretch the floor. Jason Thompson is a rebounding machine and Louis Scola has become a three point threat.
This is a perfect example, you bring in a KNOWN PUNK as a veteran leader. BRILLIANT ! Hey, maybe JR Smith can fill that role next year? DD
I think Terry was a good leader and not the problem. The issue has been more of redundancy of similar type of players. McDaniels, Ariza, Brewer - they are all similar players. Morey/McHale built a system around 3 point shooting without any great 3 point shooters. The best one we had was Parsons whom we let walk - whom we could have resigned had their been better communication - why Morey told him to take offers I don't know. This team lacks 3-point shooting and perimeter defense - which is so ironic.
We have no reliable 3-point shooters and no other playmakers besides Harden. When the game slows down in the playoffs and Harden can be double and triple-teamed with impunity, that spells disaster for the Rockets. And considering they can't rely on their defense to keep them in games or create offense off of missed shots or turnovers, this is how you see a tied game at the half turn into a nearly 30-point blowout. I get that Ty Lawson was a failed acquisition, but there were much deeper problems than him. Morey(assuming he's still here) better make sure after hiring a competent coach that he goes out and gets players who can actually create their own shot and then make them.
How can you see a team that has a LEADERERSHIP problem - and then say, he is a good leader? Jason Terry has not been a leader ANYWHERE - the guy is a known punk and we HATED him before he came here, because he hits people in the balls, and is a general ass. It is not a surprise to me that this team has problems with leadership when it picks idiots like Terry - instead of the Ray Allen types, or the Shane Battier.....leaders with GOOD character. This team is a mess - and this is a perfect example as to why. DD
Morey plan: 1. Install three point shooting offense 2. Acquire nothing but below average 3 point shooters 3. Tell the media three point shooters are really hard to acquire 4. Success?
