Its an easy decision supporting a Van Gundy hire

Rockets problem by FAR is defense, then discipline and respected leadership. Van Gundy would lend all of those things.

People say JVG had a bad roster to work with, but guess what: he wanted most of those players. Remember all those former Knicks? Mutombo was the only good that came out of that and Rafer too for a stretch in 2008. JVG wanted hard nosed players like Ryan Bowen and Sura. Sure with Morey it would be better, but I'm not so keen on this especially if he's forced to play up-tempo with Harden.

I do hope if he gets hired, I hope he will treat Harden like he did Francis. That is probably the best way for us to know if Harden has it in him to be a 2-way player who will work off the ball too. I wonder though if JVG really held Francis accountable because T-Mac sure as hell didn't change so who knows, he might just let Harden off the hook.

Is it ethical to publicly claim he wants the Rockets HC job when there's someone still occupying that job position?

if we somehow get Durant in off-season, you can be damn sure JVG would be willing to coach here.

There's no one occupying the position of Houston Rockets Head Coach.

It has been vacant nigh on 4 years now.

Has he said he wants the job publicly?

More likely he has had conversations with Feigen where he has said that if he were to coach again he'd like to coach the rockets if the stars ever aligned.

Bring back Van Gundy and I bet you he will have Shane on his coaching staff. It will be like a wet dream :)

This isn’t new news. A quote can last forever & there’s no telling when JVG actually said that. If JVG was interviewed by other NBA teams, then the question shouldn’t be whether or not he’s wiling to coach again.

The biggest concern with van gundy to me is that he has interviewed for two or three jobs already and has failed to convinced those teams that he had the goods to get another job. What didn't they like when they interviewed him? Did they think he didn't have the burn anymore? Didn't like his potential assistants? Weren't convinced he could evolve to the new nba?

How do you know if the terms were satisfactory? Maybe none of those jobs were a good fit? It's speculative to assume that just because jvg has interviewed at a couple of places and is still available, that he's lost his luster. He's probably waiting for the right situation. There's 16 teams he can't even interview with yet.

Anyone would have a good offense with those 3 superstars. But still, I'm on the JVG train.

I wasn't joking, that was actually a fun team to watch. I'm all on board for JVG.

Of course JVG isn't going to just come out and say it. He isn't going to disrespect Bickerstaff by openly admitting he wants his job. Sounds like he is using Feigen as a proxy to dispel rumors that he isn't interested. I believe cyber though. His source may be misinformed or his source may still be correct in the thought that JVG is still unhappy with Les. For those of us who were around when that divorce happened remember just how ugly it was.

i was thinking that too. my guess is that he calls guys he's worked with before like mike longabardi and andy greer. maybe a former player or two like battier, juwon howard, ryan bowen... he might even give mark jackson a chance at restoring his coaching career.

As long as Rick Brunson is not brought in at point guard, it's all good.

Ryan Bowen looked like an assistant coach when he was a player.
