JVG is an intelligent dude, he should've learned by now how the game has evolved and how important offense is. He's also such a Rockets homer that it'll get everyone excited. But man, I can't forget the 2 years of healthy Yao / TMAC that we lost in the first round under JVG. Should've beaten Dallas and Utah both, and oh what could've been.....I remember us just as frustrated with him as we were McHale just this year.

I wonder why RA is not even on anyone's radar, has he hung it up? I mean his credentials are a lot better than Brooks you'd think? Best blend of offense and defense of the bunch.

Hopefully Washington gets the Brooks deal done leaving us JVG.

Yeah, I remember it being a hot mess but that was probably a result of the team. Except for T-Mac and Yao Ming, no one on that team could score or run. That's why they had to play a half-court game.

Honestly, the best coach the Rockets have had in recent memory is Rick Adelman. He got a team with literally no center, no one above 6'6, to play hard and competitively. It's a shame he didn't have T-Mac and Yao in their prime.

morey is a clown and is the reason this mess exists. He needs to be gone after this season and bring in a competent gm whose played the game and not a super geek that think he knows what it takes.

Crunch numbers morey, thats all you're qualified for, not running an organzation.

    Only if.
    1. He can get James to play D
    2. Implement a ball movement not PnR heavy offense

Even Stephen A Smith thinks JVG is the best choice for Houston. He has always been.

Yeah, Scottie Brooks isn't even in the same league as JVG and Tibs. Seriously, what has he proven? That he can get an extremely talented team deep into the playoffs?

I would like Dwight to be back if JVG is to be our new coach. He is perfect to anchor JVG's type of defense.

Thats why he said he hopes Washington signs Brooks. So we dont end up with him.

As for Brooks he has proven hes a bad coach. In development as well imo because he has failled to teach his players in okc to play team ball and share the ball.

I think the general consensus on CF is that Brooks is slightly better than McHale, but that's about it. And that ain't saying much as most NBA coaches are better than McHale. The only reason to hire Brooks is if the Rockets believe it'll lure Durant here. Well, that and Morey wants another players coach to manage egos while he pulls the strings from the front office. It'll end just as badly as it did with McHale and JB.

I'm okay with Dwight leaving but it would not be the end of the world IMO if he opted in with JVG as coach. JVG has expressed an interest in getting him more high % looks. And all the talk about Dwight slowing down... I've seen a slower Yao Ming anchor a good JVG defense. Physically, Dwight can still do the same.

Is there even a report that JVG is interested in even coaching again, much less for the Rockets? I know he doesn't want to talk about coaching jobs when the position is filled but I don't recall him ever saying he wants to coach again.

Frankly, I think he enjoys the board caster lifestyle which he can just watch and comment on games. I think he likes coaching too but he's been out of that mindset for almost a decade now with ample opportunities to comeback (to even better situations than what we have here in Houston, to be frank), yet he is still on ESPN for every marquee matchup.

Of course, if he wanted to come back and has a plan set in place that would get the team together then I would be pretty happy.

I am still in the mindset that our next coach is someone not talked about too often aka not one of the big names. . I think is going to be an assistant or some former player that is ready for a head coaching job.

JVG has said he would like to coach again, but only in the right situation.

All reports indicate that Les likes big name coaches so I am not so sure the "hidden gem assistant type" are going to be highly considered. They would be on down the line.

Which again is the problem. Les has the same narrow mindset on hiring coaches and building a contender(go after big names) and most of the time it doesn't work. Remember that he wanted Larry Brown 13 years ago before he "settled" on Van Gundy. Then it was Adelman who was a pretty big name at the time, and then McHale who was a lousy coach/GM in Minnesota, but a big name from his playing days.

Van Gundy did ok, but never got a fair shake thanks to injuries and a weak roster thanks to the mess Rudy and Carroll left behind. Adelman did great given the hand he was dealt. And McHale had one really good year(2014-15) and underachieved the rest of the time IMO.

I'd prefer a fresh approach and pluck an NBA assistant or college coach this time around. Especially since the only real names left out there are Van Gundy and Brooks, and the former may not even want the job.

Becky Hammond should get a look. Pop produces some of the best coaches in the league.

Offense is definitely the problem. Our offense is soley Harden's ISO and kick out for 3-pointers...JVG didn't have any sets, just throw the ball in to Yao and T-Mac's playmaking ability...my favorite coach was Adelman...he was dealt a bad hand, took over a team when Yao and T-Mac were never on the court together. With this healthy team, and with D-Mo's passing ability, this team would be perfect for Adelman!
JVG couldn't get us out the 1st round
Adelman took the champion Lakers to 7-games without Yao...
If we can reconcile our differences with Dwight and keep him, then JVG might be the right solution for our team.
Otherwise, bring in Scott Brooks and hopefully he can persuade Durant to become a Houston Rocket!!!
