Look. I understand it doesn't fit into the whole "Clinton is championing big corporate dollars in politics" meme you Sanders folks have got going, but I'll attempt to remind you of the truth about Citizens United, in case you've forgotten:

The entire reason why that case was litigated was because the CU folks were trying to illegally use corporate dollars to market an anti-Hillary propaganda film. The ruling gave them the green light. But these days, Sandernistas would rather promote anti-Hillary propaganda using individual $27 contributions, because purity.

    Carry on.

That's irrelevant. Hillary has been benefitting greatly from the Citizens United ruling. Argue it all you want but the facts disagree with you on this one.

She's possibly one of the most corrupt politicians in recent history.

And what's wrong wanting a candidate who is accountable to individuals as opposed to special interests?

If she is so corrupt, where are the charges after 20 years of intensive investigation? It's all just for show man, political theater to establish exploitable narratives.

I think the GOP establishment is happy to have her elected. Obstruction and maintenance of the status quo virtually assure that nothing will happen during her tenure. They will be able to continue to campaign against her 'evil' in local elections and maintain the The House.

All is well for corporate profits.... just look at the sentiment for The Dow.

Love wacko bird supporters who think establishment of both parties are the same.

You don't even have to get to niche issues or ones politicians have little say over (abortion) before you come to HUGE differences between the parties.

Don't confuse things for them, justtxyank. They are hanging onto their "Hillary's EVIL and CORRUPT" meme with both hands. Nevermind that the Republican Party has gone to tremendous lengths for over 2 decades to find something that would ruin her politically, much less put her in jail, and have managed a big fat ZERO.

The most ardent of Bernie Sanders supporters, several of whom have taken up residence here, seem determined to do the GOP's work for them. If Senator Sanders read some of the posts I've read here, he would go ballistic. He would be furious. He would tell them to cut the crap and stick to the issues. Sadly, he went negative when he unleashed a guy like Tad Devine, professional attack dog, the chief strategist of his campaign. I think it was the dumbest move in an otherwise brilliant effort to get the nomination.

I'd like to add that this thread is a tad early.

If Jesus were running against Mother Theresa there would still be a large portion of followers slinging mud, casting aspersions, and finding fault on both sides.
That's just the nature of politics. People would rather b****, b****, b**** then vote.

On the recommendation of the unbiased news thread the other day, I watched the young turks last night. They likened Trump to Hitler, complete with speculating how he'd take over the army and set up concentration camps. And then they said he was better then Hillary.

    Welcome to the silly season.

I gotta think Kasich will be Trump's VP pick.

Absolutely zero clue who Hillary will pick. I read some talk of Al Franken. That would be a good one to pick because he would be a really good comedy writer for Hillary.

I don't see how you convince over 2,000 conventioneers to ignore the votes of millions of party members and support someone who has explicit support only from the RNC.

The issue is that the vast majority of the country and the vast majority of the Republican party don't support Donald Trump. If the RNC lets Trump be the nominee, the Republicans lose the election for sure, which they might lose anyway, but with Trump as the nominee they very likely lose the house and senate as well. It would effectively hand the presidency, the congress, and the Supreme Court to the Democrats all at the same time.

If you are the RNC, you have to stop that at all costs. Even if preventing Trump from getting the nomination still leads to the Republicans losing the presidential election, they still might hold on to the house and senate so long as Trump isn't the nominee. If they hold on to the senate, they can force the president to nominate a true moderate to the bench. Basically all is not lost. If Trump gets the nomination, it's a total disaster for the Republican party and the country as a whole.

If he walks into the convention with 1100+ delegates, I don't see how they stop him.

Have a good portion of the delegates that don't support him who are pledged to him simply not show up for the first ballot. They'd then be free to vote for someone better on the next ballot.

Preventing Trump from being the nominee should be the #1 priority. Everything else is secondary.

The only thing this election is about is Supreme Court seats. Congress will continue to do nothing.... but open investigations into Ms. Clinton... I suppose to influence her choice(s).

There are probably a few million people in this country I would rather have as president than Trump. But you can not simply cheat him out of the nomination. That's even worse to me than having one term and done of Trump.

It's not cheating him out of anything. it's using the rules to influence a better outcome. There's absolutely no chance of him being president so it's not about that, if he gets the nomination it has huge long term implications. It hands the house and senate to the Democrats while electing Hillary. That means they can put whoever they want in the Supreme court which will mean it's a far left replacement. With a far left SCOTUS, a Democrat controlled congress, and a Democrat in the white house, which is pretty much a worst case scenario for the country.
