Q Rockets have high expectations this coming season and their success will highly depend on their backcourt Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley, other than Yao. But how do you see Cuttino fit into Jeff Van Gundy's coaching style? Will Cuttino be traded during the season because of his shot selection?

Marc Stein: I wouldn't trade Cuttino unless he convinces the new coach that he can't fit in. Same goes for Artest in Indy. Don't give away a good player until you're sure it can't work. Mobley is one of the best second-round picks in the modern era. He'll be the fall guy if things go awry, but let Van Gundy work with him first.

I'd say that is reasonable. (And I would love to get Artest as our SF, but that is not the point of this thread.)

Well at least someone is talking about the Rockets..

Cuttino is also reasonably paid in my opinion. Not overpaid...but we have plenty of guys on our team that are overpaid!

I agree with Mr. Stein. Cat will be an important player on our team who needs to contribute and stop being selfish or NARROW MINDED! And if he cannot fit in, then we will trade him! I don't want to trade him. I would like to get Ron Artest without trading Yao, Francis, or Mobley.

Cat is ignored. He's a good guy, a good player. Unappreciated everywhere, even right here.

Trade him? Sure in the RIGHT deal. Only the RIGHT deal.

That sounds good to me, but Cat for Artest would also put my mind at ease.

Interesting isn't it that Marc Stein tied Artest and Cat in the same reply?

Conspiracy theorists, what does this mean???[

cat is basically a steal with his contract. he was the best defensive player on the team last year and with the right attittude tweaking can be a perfect fit in jvg's system. hard working and tough.

Cat the best defensive player on the team? hahahahaha
good try Mr. Mobley, but that honor should go to James Posey. and #2 goes to Yao, and #3? Cato, #4 Griffin, #5 Hawkins......

i disagree....cat played some good d down the stretch...hawkins did not play...griffin i agree with....cato(while good) was a bench player......yao got pushed around....posey got driven on over and over. It's all stupid anyway. We were top 10 in the league in d last year were we not? could be mistaken.

What games were you watching? Griffin 4? And I thought Posey's D was over-rated.

As far as Cat and Artest being mentioned in the same Marc Stein post, I imagine others were asking about Artest. And I sent a question that went unanswered (he seemed to touch upon it with this very Cat-Artest response) that said, Are the Rox gonna stand pat at the 3? Don't you think Al Harrington or Artest for Cuttino blah blah blah?

So maybe some of us subliminally put the two names in his head. Still, Indy could use Cat, and we could use a 3. I'm OK with the roster except for the small forward, where we'll be slaughtered.

Did you watch any of the Utah games. Harpring lit posey up so bad in the first game of the back to back that they had to put Cat on him in the second game which the won in Utah.

Posey got lit up by Shandon Anderson in NY. Posey was at best a poor man's Shandon Anderson.

The Hawk was our best defensive player last year followed by Cat and then Cato.

I think Cat played some really goood defense down the stretch. I wouldnt say he's a better defender than posey, but hes good. Everyone make sure to keep an eye out for Posey, I think this season is going to be a huge breakout for him. Houston will once regret letting another future great star go.

Mobley is a versatile player. He can fit to any coaching or playing style.

I think he did a good job last season. For not getting a playoff spot last season, I blame it on the coaching staff for having a predictable and poor offense.

They didn't play as a TEAM ( ..this message goes to Francis especially )

I don't buy the Posey being a good defender thing and Hawkins had energy, but that being said he wasn't that great. Mobley probably was the teams best perimeter defender last season. If Griffin could concentrate then he would be leading the league in blocked shots, or Yao could take that honor once hes done bulking up.

Cat might be a better player, both on O and D if his playing time is a consistent 36 minutes a night, or so.
