Buck, RM95 and I met up last night at BW3 in the Village for wings, beer, to celebrate RM95s birthday, and to spread a little good karma the Astros way. I showed up around 6:40 and found Buck near the bar (sooo-prise ). We quickly found a table in front of one of the big screens and began to apply a nice beer buzz with nicotine chaser. RM95, the birthday boy hisself, showed up right before gametime. The three of us were excited about the matchup that was about to begin and were confident that our good karma would spur the Astros on to righteous victory. We ordered more rounds of beer plus our wings. The top of the first went great and we all commented on how sharp Wade Miller looked. We were anticipating a great pitcher's duel. After an uneventful bottom of the first, our wings arrived just in time for the top of the second. As we began to wolf down our wings, the game began to unravel. As the ass-whupping progressed, we began to look at each other in disbelief. I myself almost choked on a couple of wing bones. When the Giants loaded the bases, I said to Buck "here comes the grand salami. This is the Astros we are talking about. You just know it's going to happen". It did. We finished our wings just as the Giants were finishing off their 10th run. We stayed until the bottom of the inning to see if the Astros could do anything positive. They couldn't, so we paid our check and split. Then, when I got to my car, I had one of those "YOU ARE PARKED HERE ILLEGALLY" stickers on my driver's side window. By the way, rubbing alcohol cuts through the glue on those things great...took me about 10 minutes to get it off after I got home. So, in conclusion, on behalf of Buck, RM95 and myself, I want to apologize to this BBS, the city of Houston, and Astros fans around the world for the Astros meltdown during the game last night. We got together to celebrate RM95s birthday and impart some good karma on the Astros for such an important game. Our karma obviously worked in reverse, and we take full responsibility for what happened at Minute Maid Park last night. The players had nothing to do with it. Because of us and our misdirected karma, the Astros never had a chance. Next time, I'm bringing a few rabbit's feet and a Ouija board, and I may sacrifice a live animal prior to gametime. I will also probably be drinking whiskey instead of Michelob Ultra Light. Hell, after last night's second inning, I was ready for a morphine drip.
Damn glad I couldn't make it last night. MMPark might have imploded, killing everyone except Jimy Williams.
Shouldn't you be apologizing for leaving early when other Clutch BBS members may have shown up to partake in the outing?
No. The only thing we were confident in was that if any other BBS members would have shown up after we left, they would have noticed the score of the game and would have immediately left themselves.
I left Minute Maid in the second inning -- a record-breaking early departure. This has not been a good 5 days of sports for me. The Astros have lost four straight, the Texans got blown out, and Rice lost to a UT team that is having a down year. Fortunately, this horrific losing streak has coincided with a fantastic streak of good luck on the sports gambling front. If it weren't for that, I may actually be turning the tv off and being productive.
WHEW! I thought it was me. I hadn't seen a game all year and I finally had a night off of rehearsal so I sat down to watch. After the second inning I went back to Simpsons Hit and Run, it was more entertaining.
don't forget a lock of hair, chicken bone cross, incense, monkey's blood, some beads and a bowl of holy water...
Man, we had piles & piles of chicken bones sacrificed to the great Jobu, lotta good that did. That game sucked. Happy frikkin birthday rm95.
You guys should be glad I couldn't make it. Let's just say my apartment is not in the best of conditions after Hurricane drapg ripped through it in that nasty 2nd inning. Isabel ain't got nothin' on me!
I was just flipping the channels and just glanced at the ESPN BottomLine and it said 10-0. I had to take another glance at that because I thought ESPN was mistaken. Now why the hell should I doubt ESPN when I should be doubting the f@#$% ASTROS?
see Billy Wagner IS wrong... we Astros fans did know that last night was an instance to boo and not to cheer.
Buck, RM95, and RocketMan Tex: You three suck! How could you do that to our beloved Astros?! This was our year, our year I tell you to finally reach the promise land! ALL those fantastic moves Drayton approved to make our team better just wasted becuz of you guys. You three will burn for what you did to the 'Stros.....
I was on my way, but guessed after the 2nd that you guys might leave. NYPD Blue made up for it Headed to Minute Maid now, wish us luck!
Ok...don't worry. Considering http://archive.wgnradio.com:8080/ramgen/wgnam/shows/williams_john/audio/reversethecurse030922jw.rm and http://www.house8.net/weblog/2003/09/22#1760 I say you dress RM95 up like a goat and take him to the game. HURRY! -Deji
I'm wondering if I should watch the game that's starting on ESPN right now. The Astros and Rox always lose when I watch them on TV...
My fault, since I didn't show...I keep saying I'm gonna show at events, that you guys won't believe it when I actually do show...If I was there we would have won... Blame it all on me...I feel so bad, I will not eat anymore squirrel till the Astros win it...
Damn, I must have been good luck today. I missed the first inning (when the Giants scored their only run) when I was off picking up some lunch but was able to see the rest of the game. Glad I didn't throw the SOB out the window....
