Hmm, my husband was supposed to come home from basketball practice an hour and a half ago. Since he checks this BBS 10 times a day, I thought maybe he would see this and come home. Because... we have a wheelchair rugby game tonight! It is actually a lot of fun. It's kind of like soccer, only you hold onto the ball while rolling around in a wheelchair. And in a few weeks wheelchair basketball will start. (Oh and in case you were wondering, neither of us actually uses a wheelchair. I'm playing for an accessible recretaion class and brought my husband with me.) It's a lot of fun!
Quad Rugby? One of my best friends on planet friggin earth is on a quad rugby team that plays out of pasadena. Is he with you guys?
Is that out at the Verne Cox center on Burke Rd.? That's right next to my house. (I'm from Pasadena) And if anyone's interested... I made it...
Do you guys play with Quads or is it all able bodied people? My buddy Jamie travels all over the place playing in tourneys and stuff.
My wife's professor is paraplegic, and he got us into it. Most of the people who play are able-bodied, but some aren't. It's a good mix, and it's kind of cool cause you don't know the people are who actually need a wheelchair until the game is over for the most part. (except for the fact that they tend to dominate during the game)
So, is it actually against the rules if you get up and tip one of the handicapped people over, or is it just one of those things thats legal but frowned upon? hey, anything to win...can't be any worse than Stockton and Malone flopping and throwing elbows for 18 years...
I played rugby, I loved rugby. I often felt like I would end up in a wheelchair if I kept playing rugby. you guys are doing it backwards
