I dont think we could afford to give up Ariza. He's probably the only player on the roster who brings it every night. Sometimes he goes cold but he's always hustlin. You need to have good defense at the 2/3 in this league and I dont know where else we could get that. Batum in the offseason? You gotta guard guys LIKE Matthews/Parsons, Green/Kawhi, Reddick, Thompson/Barnes, Durant... plus many others. Ariza is someone who is willing to take on those hard matchups for others. Lou wont. Young wont. Bass wont. Im okay with the trade if you can pick up a great FA to replace him, but who would that be?

Morey went out to get Beasley because he reminded him of Simmons. Both really 6'8 and built close to how Lebron is built. Nice going Morey. I say keep Beasley is see what he does with better coaching.

I think Beasley does what Beasley does and coaching is an after thought.
    Uncoachable = China
    2015 - 2016 Rockets have no coach

    2015 - 2016 Rockets + Beasley = Success

Do the Lakers have enough filler / expiring contracts to make the following trade work? :

Harden for Lakers 1st Round Pick

Why Rockets do it: no more iso ball, clean slate, salary cap flexibility, can still pursue KD:

    Possible starting lineup:
    Beverly
    Buddy Hield
    Durant
    Beasley
    Capela

Why Lakers do it: Lakers fans have gotten used to losing, they get the league's best SG again, a "Kobe 2.0" that fits the party lifestyle of LA

This is actually a scenario i can see happening NEXT YEAR if we'll miss on big free agents in the near future. In this scenario the Lakers will probably be the perfect franchise to rape in a trade with a franchise player involved, especially with Harden after Kobe retirement.

Only thing, Morey will not trade Harden if Durant comes here, not for a rookie anyway.

Nor would he make such a trade before Kevin Durant's future is already determined. Imagine Durant following Harden to the Lakers, a team that will have massive cap space this summer.

    Harden isn't going anywhere anyway.

harden for lakers first round pick?Is that a joke?
That's half Harden's market value. They couldn't even get someone like Beal with that pick.
If it's something like Russell, a top 3 pick and Clarkson then we can start talking.

    Exactly!

And I still wouldn't do it, knowing Durant would follow him there.

Boston? Maaaaaybe. If we decide to go this route. It would involve a lot of moving parts.

But I'm sure the idea will be to rebuild around Harden, not blow the whole thing up. Unless they think Harden is actually that spoiled; but they need him and Beasley for the Kevin Durant chase (for which I'm not holding my breath, but if OKC falls short of a title, we have as much shot as anybody).

I wouldn't do it either. No way.
Maybe NEXT year if we fail yet again, smh Les has fired Morey and Harden is about to leave anyway, only then.

    nope.
Before the lottery the Lakers first round pick has almost as much chance of not even converting this year, and next year good luck the Lakers being so godawful again to have such a high lottery. Oh and if it's outside the top3 Philly gets it. This year and next.

So a small chance for Simmons and Ingram. Who btw may both end up worse than Beal.

Yep, that's what i'm saying, no chance we trade Harden before next year, Durant or no Durant. But if we'll be trash at the end of next season well, i'm not sure Morey is going to risk losing Harden, and the Lakers will be the perfect time to trade with.

The largest jump in NBA history in the lottery was the 1993 Orlando Magic who traded the pick (Chris Webber) to Golden State for Penny Hardaway. They had the 11th position, and currently we would be looking at the 12 spot.

I guess you never know

Yo can we pick up Kobe. He's set to be a free agent next year. Great veteran presence.

Not a trade: but Damion Lee looks like a player, Morey should draft him.

If Morey decides to blow things up:

    - Trade Harden to Boston for Crowder, Bradley and picks
    - Use picks to trade for one of Stotts, Budenholzer, Carlisle, Stevens, Clifford, Vogel
    - Trade Ariza to Atlanta for Teague
    - Max 2 of Horford, Barnes, Whiteside in FA
    - Re-sign Dmo if he agrees to 12-14m for 2 years, no more than 7m per.
    - Sign 1-2 useful, low risk veterans that will play the bulk of bench minutes at MLE-type or similar money and 2-3 veterans to complete the bench at vet minimum or similar: eg Pachulia, Plumlee, Booker, Teletovic, Turner, Green, Afflalo, K Martin, Sessions and Aldrich, Black, Dudley, Joe Johnson, Acy, Douglas
    - Trade/waive/let expire anyone who does not have the quality to be a playoff-rotational player or is no longer good value: Brewer, Smith, Howard, Beasley, Goudelock, KJ, Terry

    Teague ($8m)/Beverly ($6m)/Douglas (or similar at $1m)
Bradley ($8m)/Afflalo (or similar at $6m)/rookie
    Crowder ($6m)/Dudley (or similar at $3m)/Dekker ($1.6)
    Barnes (~$20m)/Dmo (or similar at $6m)/Harrell ($1m)
    Whiteside (~$20m)/Capela ($1.3)/Black (or similar at $1m)
