Yeah looks like Mavs will get in barring a major meltdown (that the Rockets are only capable of pulling off)

Jazz vs. us it seems I guess? Just win out and Jazz lose 1 then = Rockets get in

Sadly, I'm not even sure if Houston can beat the Lakers/Wolves/Kings with confidence....

Even if we could make the 8th seed, we would be 0:4 vs Warriors. What's the point?
This team is not going anywhere.

Why do people still want to make the playoffs?!
Getting in the playoffs is like trying to get back with an ex who is seeing someone else and will break your heart even more...

Why get in the playoffs? Seriously, fans are asking that question? Fans have become such p*****s, afraid to get "there heart broken." Has your hesrt not been broken enough? **** it, make the playoffs and make history! Winning starts with having g a einning mentality. Fan rockets fans stop having loser mentalities, it rubs off on their team.

because if we can't even make the playoffs the chances of success of our off season plans (to attract top Fas) go down the drain.

Yes we're "p*****s" because we don't want to ever watch these Rockets ever play basketball again. Sue us.

Terrible. Rockets haven't "turned it on" in must win games in the past week, what makes you think they can do ANYTHING against the Warriors? Give me the 1st round pick over getting destroyed by Warriors in 4 blowouts.

They won't make the playoffs but the playoffs could possibly be handed to them gift wrapped.

We have the tiebreaker on the Jazz because of conference record correct?

Of course none of this would've been necessary if we could've beaten them more. Both losses came down to the wire, one of them being an epic choke job.

If mavs lose all three and rockets win out, does the rockets have tiebreaker over mavs?

I'm guessing you guys not actually fans of basketball. You're not even fans of the Houston Rockets. You guys are only fans of championships. And the the Rockets are just your means of experiencing the euphoria of a championship. Since there's little chance of a championship this season, then you guys appear have no interest watching your so-called "favorite team" play basketball.

If you guys were actual fans of basketball, you'd have been glad to see your team play basketball in the postseason. If you guys were actual fans of the Rockets, you wouldn't be rooting for them to fail. It's obvious you are neither fans of basketball nor fans of the Rockets. You're just fans of winning.

There's a word to describe people like that.

Not making the playoffs is not going to be easy to recover from, not making the playoffs with this team is going to be etched into the character and psyche of the team along with the best players on the team. So maybe people saying "whatever, they were not going to beat the Spurs anyway," may want to rethink their assumption about what not making the playoffs means for the team and the teams best player.

Yes, Rockets would have the tie-breaker over the Mavs because of their division record. But I suspect the Mavs are going to easily win their game against the Spurs though. It's the Spurs' last game of the regular season, they'll be playing in Dallas, and they will be on the 2nd night of a back to back. I can't imagine Pop not resting all his starters in that scenario.

The most likely way the Rockets can get into the playoffs is with a Utah loss. The Rockets must win their final 3 games, and hope the Jazz lose at least one game.

    THIS!!!

It's all about competition. Watching or playing in the playoffs where every single possession counts is what it's all about for a player or a "true fan", win or lose.

The game vs Mavericks could be a loss, unless Dallas purposely losses just to mess up with us. Even that, there's a still a hope for Kobe's very last game. Who knows what's going to happen.

I basically feel the same way. If they miss the playoffs, everyone involved with the Rockets from the Les, Morey, the coaching staff, and of course the players will get absolutely raked over the coals, leaving a bad stigma with the organization. Still a disappointing year either way, but I agree that failing to make the playoffs is not exactly a good selling point for any potential free-agent coming to Houston.
