If you have a defensive minded PG to cover up for Harden, you're gonna need a capable playmaker for the SF spot. Having two defense/spot up shooting only wings to play alongside Harden simply isn't gonna work. Imagine like Batum instead of Ariza next to Harden. Basically need a Defense/Playmaker wing, and there's probably 3 of those not named Lebron or Durant.
Actually, not only Bev. McHale got a free pass while Lin was here, despite his poor coaching (not saying JBB is better). And Harden's leadership qualities also got a free pass during Lin's time here. Even freaking Toney Douglas got a free pass. And Johnny Flynn would have got it if he stayed long enough.
The truth is Lin was never Houston's own...he was NY because of linsanity. Everyone here did not understand what was the big deal with this guy and all his die heart fans that would be called lofs here.
His lock down D is long gone. He's only a 3 guy now. He has shot that 3 well, no doubt, but his D is lost together with the team D
LOL!!!!!! Harden is one of maybe 5 players in the league you can base your team around and have a shot at winning the championship.
i know that. im saying his perfect role is around 20mpg as a backup guard. he can do both guard spots but only for 20mpg off the bench. making him go 30-35mpg is just stupid. there are other options but jb. kj should've been giving a fair chance awhile ago, and now same with goudelock. all 3 could be splitting minutes at pg. instead we got old ass terry who cant repeat last season. thx jb
More relevant question to ask is "has there ever been any PG who actually looks good playing beside Harden?" Only one I can think of is obviously Westbrook but you know how the pecking order goes with that one. Simply put, with his ball dominance, Harden is the PG and what Rockets need to play beside him is a JJ Redick type of player.
