I was in a club suite for the game. Helluva way to watch a football game. The game itself was about what I expected, although I would have liked to see Vincent Young get more playing time. I thought the Mob's halftime performance was great. God bless 'em...they are the most entertaining college band in the land.
Who's that coach for N.C. State? Seems like he's an up and comer. I believe he was D-Coordinator for the Miami Hurricanes before taking the N.C. State job. We sure need to add some toughness to this coaching staff! Hook 'EM!
Chuck Amato (sp?) - Great recruiter but I'm not sure if he's much more of a game day coach than Mack Brown (but I'm sur ehw couldn't be worse). Someone who follows the ACC more may have a better feel for him so I may stand corrected, but he is also known for his recruiting.
What did they do? They slammed us pretty good when we (Sam Houston) played them. They had people running around the field in prison uniforms being chased by fat prison guards etc. Hilarious stuff.
They constructed a little capital building, in light of the new redistricting fiasco. Then they had people running out of it like clowns out of a VW Beetle. They proposed some silly things like baseball replace football so that Texas could beat aggy 5 times a year, and actually beat Oklahoma for once.
The Mob dissed, in order: The 11 Texas Democrats that ran away to New Mexico Governor Rick Perry The University of Texas at Austin Texas A&M University It was a spoof on the redistricting fiasco coupled with digs at UT and A&M regarding the College World Series and colege baseball in general. The Mob felt that all collegiate sports should be played the way college baseball is played "That way", the announcer said, "Texas can beat A&M five times a year and Texas might actually have a chance against Oklahoma". The latter comment brought lots of booing from the Horns fans. It was damn funny stuff!
Plus they suggested that SAT scores should be factored into football games scores, so the halftime score wasn't really Texas 41, Rice 0, it was Rice 288 Texas 41... I thought that was funny.
Yeah I forgot about that one! The Mob makes going to Rice football games such a blast. I hadn't been to a Rice football game in about 6 or 7 years and I had forgotten how much fun the Mob is. They are the best!
I love The Mob! How great is a marching band with Louie Louie as their fight song. They are a close 2nd to TSU's Ocean Of Soul for pure halftime entertainment.
YEAH! Let's bring back John Mackovic or David McWilliams!!! Gotta love the fair weather, short memory "fans".......
