Man Ive never seen 'em play the Raiders this good. Gannon is freaking pissed. I miss the old Mile High stadium though. Have some good memories as a kid of the Broncos playing there (orange crush days with Karl Mecklenburg and Rulon Jones). I was actually there when they played the Oilers in the playoffs and Jerry Glanville ran the infamous "stagger lee" play which is still being laughed about to this day.
How could you forget this play? I thought it was unforgetable! Moon to Rozier, lateral pass, Rozier drops the ball & watches as Denver picks it up...I still hate to think of it
You forgot to mention the fact that it was deeeep in Bronco territory. Thank you, Glanville. Jackass.... Anyway, I'm thinking the Raiders are done. They look old and shell-shocked (from the Superbowl). I'm thinking 7-9...if they're lucky.
God, good thing I decided not to skip class for this crap heap of a showing. The Raiders are finished if they don't win the next 3 games.
I was glad to see Quentin Griffin play(another Nimitz HS product). He looked pretty good after returning from a broken fibula. I met him through his cousin that is a friend of mine. I talked to him about 2 weeks before the draft. He's a cool character and I wish him the best of luck.
I was very happy with this game. I was really happy with the play of Jake Plummer and obviously, the defense. It warmed my heart to see the old-ass Gannon get sacked 5 times. For them to not even come close to sacking him last year when he completed a million passes in a row still pisses me off. As does that horses' ass Romanowski breaking Sharpe's elbow. It was hilarious to see Gannon get upset like that. A buddy of mine who is a Redskins fan but his brother is a Raiders fan asked me this rhetorical question: "Who in the hell does Rich Gannon think he is in yelling at Tim Brown, Jerry Rice, his offensive coordinator, etc?" The guy was a scrub journeyman QB at best before he joined the Raiders. Yea, he has had 2 or 3 really good seasons, but he isn't a future HoFer like Brown and Rice. Anyway, I thought that was an astute observation.
That was a top 10 game from my lifetime. BEAUTIFUL! I thought it was funny to see Gannon doing his best Dan Marino impression. "It can't be my fault, it must be yours! Damn you WR! Damn you TE! Damn you offensive coordinator! Damn you peanut vendor! It's not my fault!" God what a great game.
As a Raider fan I was absoloutely beyond pissed at last nights game. I still have faith in them that they will bounce back from this. I am not willing to concede the season because of this loss. Its a great win for Denver and I give Manny his props (as he did last year with me) Denver is playing great football right now. Everyone can say what they want about Gannon but the fact is he was seemingly the only one pissed about the beaten. More people should have been that mad. The play was unacceptable all around. If I had his "protection" last night I would have yelled as well. Someone had to step up and say "enough". Jerry Porter will be back in a few weeks and I look for the Raiders to start playing better. No deep threat just kills the offense.
Scary, Do you get the feeling that the Raiders have not recovered from the Super Bowl loss to Tampa? You hear people talk about it on TV all the time and their pre-season was forgettable, but as a true fan of that team, you should have a better feel for that than anyone, I would think. It is hard for me to believe that they have become that bad.
I seriously believe this is why Marino never won a Superbowl. Bad Karma, and the same thing is going to happen to Payton Manning if he doesn't check his ego at the door.
Manny I have to think that they havent shaken the SB loss as a part of the problem. I dont see how a team can go from the #1 rated offense in the NFL to the worst so quickly. A few other things I noticed: The line has looked like crap all year. Barret Robbins problems have caused some shuffling on the line and I think Barry Sims needs to be moved or replaced as he has had numerous false start penalties in every single game. Also losing Porter really hurts. I watched Denver do a great job of crowding Brown and Rice last night, part of the reason I have to think is that Alvis Whitted inspires fear in no one. Bottom line is Gannon and the boys arent getting any younger and they need to get this s**tty play in check in a hurry or I am in for one nightmare of a season.
