Looking back, it's crazy how bad his shot selection was. Almost all pull-up jumpers and many of them off balance or fading. Dude should have been a 48%+ shooter if he would have learned that 15-18 foot jumpers isn't where it's at when you are not a great shooter and a phenomenal finisher and passer. I still think he is the best drive-and-kick guy I've ever seen. Dude would be buried in the paint with three defenders collapsing and still hit three point shooters right in the chest.
Juice was great movie staring Tupac The 2nd round and conference finals was a movie that Harden was in.
To me Harden is the better pure offensive player, but has a severe deficiency when it comes to defense. McGrady, while not DPOY worthy either, was a far superior defender than Harden ever was, and most likely will be. Tmac was a HIGHLY underrated passer, if not the best at his position during his era. He was fantastic in setting up his teammates and I feel that part of his game was severely overlooked during his tenure here. Tmacs fragile body and ego did him in. His last year here I hated the man. But he stepped up every playoff series 110%. Carried a Yao-less Rockets to the playoffs during the 22-win streak (and at one point 1st place in the West) If I had to choose one, in their absolute Rockets prime, I still think last seasons Harden was better than Tmacs best year in Houston. However, not Orlando's Tmac.
1st Round Exit was a movie Harden was in twice as well. Dance around it all you want, but TMAC gave it all in the playoffs. I'd like to see Harden elevate his game in the playoffs. We have yet to see a playoff series where we go "HOLY CRAP PLAYOFF BEAST MODE HARDEN!" We have for Howard. Twice now. What we have seen from Harden is - "aw man what happened to Harden? Aw man he choked in the clutchest of clutch moment with a brain fart TO. Aw man is he hungover? Aw man was he at some party or concert? Aw man why is Howard the leader and outplaying Harden this playoffs? Aw man why is Howard outplaying Harden again in the playoffs?" Funny how guys roast T-Mac because of that 1 infamous play where he gave up on D. Damnatio memoriae cause of that 1 infamous play. Can't even relish in the nostalgia of good T-mac....even nearing a decade later...never!...because of that 1 infamous play that questioned his heart. Funny how we have seen about 3-4 of those with Harden as a Rocket, but the T-Mac haters look the other way on those.
Tmac only played 20 playoff games for the rockets. Take a guess how many playoff games hakeem played in?
Hayyyuk hayyyuk! I know right?! Ralph Sampson rings: 0, Pete Chilcutt Rings: 1. Chilcutt >>> Sampson. Hayyyuk hayyyuk! Tim Breaux >>> Kevin Durant right?! lol Zan Tabak >>> Chris Paul! wooooh! Let the logic flow!
Harden got passed the first round and the 2nd round so Harden is the better passer, he passed up McGrady
always fun to watch a debate like this by sports fans. i'd say the 1st round exit argument is quite flawed...
I have a life, and in this life I saw Harden take the Rockets to the WCF and I saw tmac play 20 playoff games as a Rocket and fail to win a series. did you see this in your life?
Paul Pierce was on some of the most mediocre Celtics team in recent memory during his real prime. Pierce didn't get the notoriety he has today until Allen and Garnett joined the team. Before then, he was just a good player on an okay team. In my opinion, T-Mac over Pierce all day. In the Harden vs. TMac debate. Obviously for their Rockets' career, Harden steals the cake. Individual careers, I think Harden needs one more season of this type of play to be definitely better than T-Mac. T-Mac's last two season in Orlando were just that incredible, in my opinion. His 32ppg, 6rpg, 6apg, 30+ PER at 23 years old was a GOAT type season.
