Houston trades: SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes) PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 16.8 minutes) Houston receives: SG Eddie Jones (18.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.7 apg in 38.1 minutes) PG Rafer Alston (7.8 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 4.1 apg in 20.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: +13.0 ppg, +2.7 rpg, and +4.3 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED The Heats're seeking for a veteran point guard link currently considering Bimbo Coles, just think they might be interested in Moochie. they've been tring to move Jones the past few seasons, Rice's contract could be an valuable asset for their rebuilding process. They also are crowded at 2&3 w/ Jones, Wade, Butler, & Odom. Rice should be a better fit for them to come off the bench behind Odom & Butler. Alston, a 5th year player, is a very good play maker. avg. 4.1 assist in 20.9min/g for the Heats last season; also a solid defender from Riley's system. Jones, even at 6'6" & will be 32 yr next month, could still be the best 3 in our roster. definely an upgrade from Posey. we all know his "D" but what suprised me is he even shot better 3s than Rice for the past few seasons. here's a comparisons: Years: 02/03 01/02 00/01 99/00 Jones: .407, .390, .378, .375 Rice: .398, .281, .389, .367 isn't a Steve-Cat-Jones 1-2-3 better than Cassell-Wally-Sprewell? then just wait for Yao/Griff catch up to K.G./Kandi's level we'd be top contender
as tempting as it would seem, did you gave any thoughts about what miami would think about this deal? it's a losing situation for them both salary wise and lineup wise.. they would lose an overpayed good player and a mediocre point guard for an overpayed washed-out rice and an overpayed mediocre norris. so, that wont happen unless we juice up our offer a little bit.
why trade for "an overpayed washed-out rice"? don't you understand how valuable an expiring fat contract is in this leauge? especially for a rebuilding team like the Heats? why do you think the Hawks traded Glenn Robinson for the dead Brandon? any trade that can saves you millions of $ you'd consider about it. it also gives the Heats cap space in next summer's FA market. also, who do you think should the Heats start at 2? Jones, Wade, or Butler? Walker signed to start, Stephania&Woods are his back up. Grand, Wallace, & Beasley will be their 4s, Butler & Odom're their 2 & 3 for the future. Wade's a 1/2 combo guard. Jones just doesn't fit into this picture and don't think he'd be happy to come off the bench. Rice's role & contract fits their plan, and Jones' role & game fits ours.
Duh. I would do it. But just like everyone has said...why would Miami do it?!? They do have a bunch of shooting guard and small forwards... I'd love to have Rafer Alston. Moochie isn't really a veteran....but he is better than Bimbo Coles. I think we could add a 1st round draft pick into the trade. Maybe give them Hawkins and Badiane too.
Comparing a mooch to a bimbo is kind of like comparing apples and oranges, right? Or maybe like comparing gangrene to gonorhea. You wouldn't want either one.
Whats with ppl in this board always using apples and oranges as comparisons... its a real famous thing to do... Hmm.... wouldnt we get screwed on this trade now that i think about it cuz jones is paid to much...
Well, clearly, I am trying to move toward a new standard of comparing gangrene to gonorhea. It will take a lot of grass roots support for this to work though.
Rafer Alston (thanks to Vince Carter's injury) and Eddy Curry gave me a great finishing kick to win my fantasy bball league last season. =)
Enough with the fruit talk, yall are making me hungry. Speaking of fruits though, I think moochie would be a mango, neither an orange or an apple.
We could of signed rafer alston in free agency, something I wanted the rockets to do. The trade sounds pretty good but it's too lopsided favoring the rockets.
