sweet, its good to see some culture on this board, ive got some persian in myself too but im mostly asian (with very hairy legs). it'd be nice to see some more diversity in the nba because it leads to more understanding of culture in the nba(but of course they have to be good!). too many people in america think the middle east is a clump of fanatical muslim arab terrorists and use those terms synonymously without knowledge of the diversity of culture there. Yao taught a lot of americans about china and through that old stereotypes and false misconceptions were broken. i hope that some day a beast from the middle east will come out and do the same thing. and yes, the iranian team does have two young 7'3+ players on their team. if only the US could drop their sanctions and give these players access to international professional training might they truly be able to reach their potential. maybe they can play in europe?
What's dissapointing is that I don't expect any of these guys to make it anywhere. The only way they will be able to make it on the big stage is if someone shows the Iranian Basketball Association that they can make money off these guys (like Team Yao). Unless they think they will see MONEY flow into their pockets, it ain't gonna happen. Case in point (For Iranians): Ali Karimi. Probably one of the most gifted soccer players in the world, but the league is so poor and the benefits are so small in Iran that he chose to play in the United Arab Emirates than in the Italian Serie A or German Bundesliga.
Wow....Another newbie just not getting it........Joke..HaHa...Joke Get that? If he was from Europe, you wouldn't even brought it up. Yes I would have...if he looked like him
This has nothing to do with being a newbie, it has to do with being stupid. Which you were, for reasons that have already been stated. So just be a man about it and either admit you were or walk away, no need to keep prolonging this in a misguided attempt to save face.
Post Count?!! What does that have to do w/ anything. Maybe its low because,, I keep my mouth shut when I have nothing productive to say. A lesson you should learn. I have been on this board since late 1997, under multiple different names. Will that buy me credibility.
Probably not, since that would make people think that you had to change your user name for various reasons. Can we just drop this?
tolerence and understanding. i have countless persian friends, and i can assure you, none of them support terrorist or terrorisim. we live in a diverse and multi cultural society, thats why i think sometimes we need to think before we open our mouth. also from what i gather most iranians infact if not all hate the current theocracy dictatorship which rules there country at this point. and another thing about persians, there first king or second, actually wrote the first bill of human rights, which the UN HAS A REPLICATED VERSION OF AND WROTE THERE OWN GUIDLINES FROM. persians have contribuited greatly to the human race over the years. also osama bin laden is an arab not a persian, persians are the first arians not germans as hitler and other physico paths during the german nazi era would have us to believe. anyhow i believe sometimes we can be insensitive to others cultures or there beliefs without knowing it or meaning it.
Thanks, being a persian myslef i would like to thank you for actually not being ignorant and having knowledge of basic history. If people spent a little more time in Geography Class as well as history they would understand a bit more and stop grouping multiple nations and races under one. Like most people say racism is just ignorance and if people actually knew more about a bunch of races and clutures they would actually be surprised how much stuff came from other places. But overall well said.
agreed, well said, I have persian, chinese, white and even some jewish ancestry in me, and damn do i get no respect in any country except cali and ny. you have to educate people day by day and have them learn that racism is another form of insecurity.
Yes... very thin legs. He really needs to strengthen his lower body esp. the knees in a hurry if he plans to play competitive basketball for at least another 10 years.
You know these kind of people need to live healthily first. It pisses me off to pull these people to the basketball. Nobody gives a damn after they burn out or career ending injury.
You have said that you were trying to crack a joke. I believe you. Whether you meant to or not, you have offended several people on this board. You can't argue with that. The reason you offended them was because you didn't realize you were saying something that was rude, rather than trying to make them mad. In the real world, that is usually the way it works. Most people don't go around trying to get people angry at them. Rather than getting defensive, why don't you just say, "I was trying to make a joke. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I understand where you are coming from." It is also extremely offensive to claim post count totals as justification for anything. ACL1 clearly knows more about this particular subject than you do, so you should acknowledge that with a little respect.
