So what was this big Colts announcement? Did they give Grigson a lifetime contract?

Sorry I wasn't clear- I meant to say the Pats and SB Champs came out.

Every year it blows my mind how so many better teams have much better cap situations. Rick Smith is pathetic.

But the Pats *don't* have a better cap situation.

Few teams had a more favorable cap situation than the Texans this offseason.

To be fair, none of the 9 teams that had more cap space than us made the playoffs this past season. But like many other things, Rick has not managed the payroll very well during his tenure.

2 things that make things difficult is having to pay a premium for FAs and the Texans philosophy on extensions. Obviously guys like Watt, Hopkins, Foster, and Brown were going to get paid. But the early extensions for Schaub and Cushing a few years back weren't good decisions and hurt us quite a bit.

Hunt, Blue, Grimes, and Polk behind Miller

    Miller
    Blue
    Grimes
    Hunt
    Hilliard
    Polk (free agent goner)

This drastically reduces the chances they draft your favorite running back. No way, they go into camp with 6.

I still think Rick drafts a Rb maybe 4th rd. If miller goes down we have nothing close to a starting caliber rb. Collins from Arkansas

They can only keep so many on the roster. Who stays? Miller, Blue, Hunt, and rookie? Then why bring back Grimes? Do they want to use 4 or 5 active spots for the backfield?

Yup got to look to the future. They can get out of Miller's contract after two years so good chance to develop somebody now.

If you can get Collins from Arkansas I think Blue's job is in danger. He's slow as hell and has zero vision

Grimes does a lot of things well, but he doesn't do one thing great. Blue is a fairly good special teams contributor...I feel like he could be a great back, but he doesn't run with determination all the time. Hunt has speed that kills. Hard to really get rid of anybody but my guess is they go to camp and Hunt ends up getting traded because you can actually get something for him.

Polk isn't on the team right now.

I seriously hope they give Grimes more playing time this year. He was better than Blue last year and deserves to get backup reps behind Miller.
