What are you smoking? Indonesia never won more than 1 gold in any Olympics, they won a grand total of 9 gold in history. If you are referring to weightlifting championships China has won more than any other country as the top weightlifting nation in the world, both Olympics and World Championships.

I think that is a useless stat really because how many guys play 48mins? Using that mythical stat is assuming a player can play at that level for the whole game which is not true. When Cato started last yr with really no backup, he avg the same rebs as he does now. Not to stray or keep this going, Stepania was the leader in the infamous rebs per 48mins.

I think Ming has picked up some bulk and I think as he progresses he needs to add more. Weight lifting has never hurt anyone hoops game, ask Karl Malone. Judging by arm definition alone isn't the only way to judge strength, look at Tim Duncan and Charles Barkley arm definition which is non existent.

Oops, I meant Samoa and The Rock is part Samoan. And I did say the past 8 or 10 Olympics. I got this from a news article a while back and it's true.

Still, I don't see where you get the 9 from for Indonesia.

United States, Russia and China have always been the top 3 gold capturing countries in any Olympics.

The last time I checked Olympic of 2000 in Sidney

U.S. took home 40 golds, Russia 32, China 28 and Indonesia only got 1. What makes you still think it's true that "Indonesia won the gold medal more than any country in the past 8 or 10 Olympics"?

Those are good looking pictures of muscle. But are they chineese or japaneese? Bruce lee wasnt all that strong. he was just fast and good. Im just saying yao isnt a big fan of lifting weights. With that chineese food he is getting healthier but not stronger.

If you look at Kevin Garnet in comparison to Yao Ming, Their bodies are somewhat alike. We all know Kevin Garnett is a powerful Power Forward. That doesnt mean he needs to look like Shack. Tim Duncan is the MVP and he doesnt look all that strong. His body is just as Yao Ming's. Remember Olajuwon? He wasnt that strong phsyically he dominated Shaq in the 95 finals with speed quickness and experience. In 1995 Shaq avereaged 29.3 ppg. That was his best number. It didnt matter to olajuwon he embarresed shaq. Yao does not have to be a shaq lookalike just to surpass him. He just needs games under his belt. Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett are all great players but they are not muscle type players. TD could take Shaq with speed. Both can post up. KG can take shaq outside. Shaq is fat. I dont get why he needed toe surgery. He basically stands in the same spot he doesnt run all that hard.

Being powerful is one thing. Being dominant is another. It doesnt matter who is stronger. What matters is who is smarter!

In '95, who was more "musclular looking," Shaq or Hakeem? Which had more "power?" Who was better?

Comparing Shaq and Yao is like trying to compare John Stockton with Stephon Marbury! Sure Marbury looks like a muscular freak and may be powerful, but he will never be as good of a point guard as Stockton (or Kidd or Zeke for that matter).

Marbury must have been picked on a lot as a little kid to want to look like such a freak in his adult life!

John Stockton is an all-time great. I dont know why people in this
forum hate him so much. IN fact, I dont even know why people
hate the Jazz as much as they do.

It's hard to like someone that has mastered the flop. John Flopton and Karla Malone are the Emperor and Darth Vader of flopping.

    The Jazz are hated because...

Stockton: Grabs, elbows, trips, scratches, you name it, his opponents.

Malone: More of the same. Except more dirty.

Personally, I don't hate them. They beat us in 1996 (with Malone holding Drexler). But they ended up getting beat by the Bulls. That's my redemption/justice.

The team I that dislike the most will always be the Lakers.

I don't see what your point is. Yao and KG doesn't have the same body to start as Yao is 4-5 inches taller, 5-6 inches if you include the shoes. Being powerful doesn't equate being dominant as you said, but being powerful means less chance of being pushed around in the paint, which means more chances of being dominant. As for smarter I don't know what you're worried about. We already know which of Yao and Shaq is smarter so using your justifications then we're all set.

LOL, Samoa won the most gold medals in the past 8 or 10 Olympics? :D

silvercatt, you are also wrong about USA, Russia and China always being the top three.

Just as an example, regarding the Summer Games, Germany was third in 1996, 1992, 1984, 1972 (both German states combined would have been second), second in 1988, 1980, 1976 (both German states combined would have been first).

Basically, always among the top three since 1972, except in the last Olympics.

In the Winter Games, Germany was first in the last ones in Salt Lake City 2002 and in Nagano in 1998.

If you want to do more research, you can check http://www.olympic.org/uk/index_uk.asp .
