I will say however -- though my Morey booster thoughts are a matter of record for more years before I met him than after -- that knowing him has given me a better understanding of what he's up against. I already had a better understanding than DD just because everyone did but I don't deny I have a little better sense from knowing him than before we met. That doesn't make me a booster when I wouldn't be otherwise. Again, check the record. I only post it to say that, yes, I do know more than you do, DD. I never play on my relationship with DM to win an argument here or I never have. But in this case, with your zillions of bad takes presented as if they were facts that only you were smart enough to get, I take joy in saying that, yeah, I know more than you do. Then again, that's true of people that don't know DM too.
oh dear lord this BS again, I like certain styles of players guys who play the game the right way, of all nationalities & races. And I don't like Dekker currently. You may THINK you know more, but you are supping from a tainted well. Once Morey is gone or has a true BBall guy above him, this team can shine again. 9 years is enough. And I know more than you think I know. Les just say who is the real problem, shall we? DD
How can he implement his own system when Mchale an experienced player/coach/GM couldn't. If anything, we should all this is Morey's system as well as Harden's team. Why you think we look so lost on offense when Harden sits? Lol
Who ever thought Bickerstaff was going to be an impact coach, honestly, in My opinion, has failed, and maybe should evaluate their perspective about coaches. I do not know for the life of Me how they thought that would work out, I though that they might be smarter than Me maybe and saw something I did not, but obviously they probably know very little about coaching at the moment.
Bickerstaff has one chance to prove he can coach, he should have sat the team down and changed the way they did things, and if they didn't like it, bench them - they would come around eventually - if not he would have shown the NBA that he has the balls to coach players no matter what their stature. Because the players are so used to Harden dominating the ball for 36mpg they struggle trying to play any other kind of system. If we had a coach with a proper system this would not be the case. DD
Not only that, Bickerstaff has had time to prepare and has been on the staff for years, and as the next man up mentality applies to players, it should apply to coaches.
I agree with you on this but it's easier said than done. Like I said they didn't listen to Mchale so why would they listen to JBB. And let's be honest here, JBB doesn't have any schemes to run. So he's running what was taught to him, Morey Ball.
The thing is, from what I've gotten from you on this subject (as far as your inside perspective) - you don't need to know Morey to get a sense for these things. You simply have to think logically and use common sense. The things I hear people say... it's like there is no middle ground or reasonable thought process behind the commentary. Everyone speaks in extremes. Like children.
I remember you not liking rookie Parsons because he was outplaying your then sweetheart. That was amusing.
Daryl Morey on 790 a few mins back. Quick recap. 790: Daryl, Good Morning and congrats. Nice to see KJ make most of his play time yday. DM: Yeah he has been doing great and playing well in the D league and nice to see someone step up when given the opportunity. 790: I want to ask Daryl about GMing and team building. Don't you have to have an owner on board to make aggressive moves to make big pass / fail ramifications? DM: I think in a cap situation we deal with it's about planning ahead and setting yourselves for free agency. 790: How far ahead o you plan? DM: Our plan is about 3 years. With the NBA it revolves around top players and knowing when they become available is super important. 790: Do you consider draft picks as currency or part of team building? Is there a cut off where you say anything above a certain spot say number 8 becomes currency more than anything else? DM: Obviously draft picks are important You need those draft picks producing on their early contracts. And when you make moves like Pablo last year we gave up a couple of picks 790: Daryl, in the NBA is there a position where you sit down and decide to spend more on a certain position like in egg ball with the quarter back money thrown around. DM: In the NBA which is obviously different from egg ball which Lance would know better it's all about having one of these elite players like Harden or Howard. Obviously 2 is better than 1 but you need at least 1 to compete in the NBA. At the end of the day you need one of those players. If you look at championship teams, they have elite players whether it's wing or the big spot 790: On the rescinded DMo trade and hurting clients value and potential filing of a case. IS that normal? DM; I do know about the potential for that. We have supplied info we have been asked for but beyond that I can't comment. I have not been through anything like that so I am not familiar with how it will play out. 790: Dekker and Harrell, two picks from last year who you have tried to integrate, well less so Dekker. What are your thoughts on Dekker and what he is doing this year? DM: He is integrating himself back. I would expect he gets most of his time in the D league this year. He has gotten better with each game in the D league. His last game was his best so far 7/9 and rebounding well. Montrez is coming off well. he is getting rotation minutes and is getting the confidence of the coaches which is important 790: On the NCAA tournament and potential evaluation of draft picks? DM: It obviously matters when you step up against tougher competition. We will look a t guys who perform against the tougher competition. Slightly more weighted. Your total body of work over your time in college is important but big game situations will add on to that and get weightage. 790: On getting hot at the right time and making a run. DM: We always try to peak in April. We didn't want to do it this way but we have left as little choice. It's a win or lose league at this point. No excuses, injuries don't matter and we have to get a higher seed.
I listened this AM. Lance basically sets Morey up to slurp on Les and Morey sidesteps it and goes into a soliloquy about how he's been waiting for Durant for 3 years. Phil Collins playing in the background - "I've been waiting for this momenttttt...... alllll my lifeeeee."
We need two stats to be competitive according to Morey. We allegedly have two stars and aren't competitive
We've won 2/3rds of our games with them together 3rd best winning % since I took over One of the best since Leslie took over Same team that went to the WCF No teams wants to see us in the playoffs Oops, time to head back to the laboratory and see what went wrong! Forget about coaching, forget about chemistry, we're just gonna assemble a dream team of talent, put it together and WIN! Right?
