I was talking about this with a few co-workers today and it got me thinking... alot of people here really think u need a dominant PF to compete in the west... do you think we would have been better off by signing C-Webb to what ever contract he wished for.... and ultimately, losing our chance at drafting Yao... Or How we are right now without a consistant PF but Yao on the roster... ??
In Yao, we have a go-to guy who wants the ball in crunch time. C-Webb is a go-to guy who doesn't want the ball in crunch time. We're better off now and for the future.
screw webber, we have Yao. webber may have gotten us into the playoffs, but we would have been kicked out early with nothing to show for it. I like Mo, and think Griff is a fine rotation player with the potential to be more.
Rox need someone as talented as C-Webb. But not C-Webb. Rox have C-Webb (very lite, but heavy). Rox absolutely don't need C-Oak either.
I actually think we did have a chance at C-Webb. If we didn't re-sign Mo to that contract, we could have thrown money his way. He has a close relationship with Stevie from the playgrounds. C-Webb is a great player, no-show in the play-offs at times, true.... but the only one that really steps up in the play-offs for Sac-town is Bibby. The chemestry between our team n C-Webb may have been great under Rudy. Then again it may have been bad, aka Pippen. What do you guys wish for/think would be our solution at the 4 spot to get us deep into the play-offs?
We're better off with Yao. C-Webb is a great player though, and he wanted the ball in crunch time last season.
There's no need for a C-Webb type player at the 4 now. All you need is a body that can defend well and rebound...and when called upon, can sometimes score. Jamaal Magloire, PJ Brown, Kurt Thomas...hell, even old guys like Derrick Coleman or Charles Oakley (who I do happen to hate). One of these kind of players is all you need. Maybe we have one in Eddie, who knows. But we don't need a scoring PF at all. We just need to give Yao an Otis Thorpe.
if you're asking me would i rather have Yao Ming or C. Webb...my answer everyday of the week and twice on sundays is Yao Ming. I don't think there's a GM in the country would would argue different, if he were being honest.
This quote sums up what Chris is. "Look he's running away from the ball. He's scared of the ball, terrrrrrrrrrrible!" by the always immortal Red Head, Bill Walton
We are fine ........right now the only court Webber has been on/in lately is with his lawyer.... I Love YoYao!! is that gay ?
YAO all the way, I really dont regret at all not signing webb, becuz we got Yao to compliment it... we know we will be known as The Champions once again in the future..
The chances of getting Webber were very slim.He had mentioned his desire to go to New York if the situation was right but he made the right choice for himself by staying with the Kings who were deeper than us.I think he would have had a rough time adjusting with Francis and Mobley. He is not a go to guy although he would be better than Mo and Griffin. I don't regret not having him on the team.Yao needs a strong physical PF to back him up not C-Webb.
