Did anyone see this article on CBS sporstline : http://ww3.sportsline.com/b/page/pressbox/0,1328,3534790,00.html Doc Rivers is quoted as saying "Mobley ... is a b****" ??? I think that he is actually trying to say that Mobley is difficult to guard, but that's just my interpretation. Either way, it's a good article and I didn't see it listed on the main page. -- tomahaks all around ------------------
So if Rivers is, in essence, complimenting Mobley, why is this thread titled "Doc Rivers disrespects Mobley"? ------------------
Two reasons : 1) Because the message could be interpreted either way, and I was interested in what other people thought of his comments. 2) Trying to fan the flames of our last loss to Orlando. I want to see the Rocks beat the Magic by twenty in OUR house, and it would be nice if the fans in Compaq had some extra bile in their stomachs ------------------ word to your mother
I REALLY enjoyed that article. One particular quote: "They won two rings playing inside-out," said Rivers. "Now they play spacing and isolate to hit the threes. It's a completely different game. That says a lot about Rudy. He's a guy who won titles one way, and now he's doing it this way." Hell yes. ------------------ Jazzkiller
It wasn't Rivers' comment that I thought was interesting, it was the fact that our boys were discussing pizza immediately before ending our 4 game win streak. ORLANDO, Fla. -- They sat side-by-side in the visitors locker room at TD Waterhouse Centre waiting to play the Orlando Magic on Friday night. They were quiet and peaceful, and the main worry at the moment was what kind of pizza to eat after the game. "Papa John's," said Houston Rockets guard Steve Francis. "Papa John's," agrees backcourt mate Cuttino Mobley. "With meatballs on it." That is the kind of cool these two exhibit. In a matter of minutes, they will take the court to meet the Magic, the team's four-game winning streak on the line, and they are thinking pizza. "We're different off the court," Francis said. Moments later, Francis told Mobley it was time to go, time to get the wheels warmed up, wheels that make them one of the quickest and most explosive backcourts in the league. They jump up and head to the court, which they consider theirs. . . . [This message has been edited by jamcracker (edited February 19, 2001).]
I am suprised they published that "Mobley is a b****", I am sure that was a compliment. If it wasn't, Mobes might have to Mcpop off for 50+ ------------------ "GiddyUP!!!" Krammer from Seinfeld
In the caption under Mobley's picture, they called him "Mild-mannered." I hardly think he is mild mannered as he picks up quit a few techs and b****es about too many calls. ------------------ "GiddyUP!!!" Krammer from Seinfeld
When are people going to realize that Cuttino is the next super-duper star of the league? ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
The guy is a complete Freak of Nature!!! ------------------ Sometimes you gotta do the next best thing!
This is no biggie. I remember Branford Marsalis telling the story of how when he first played with Sting, he called his music a "motherf*ucker" which was a big compliment. He said Sting looked at him funny and said, "A what?" ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible. [This message has been edited by Jeff (edited February 19, 2001).]
You're just feeling self guilt jammie, because we were discussing the same thing before ending our 4 game win streak.
Anyone surprised to see Mobley agree with Francis? ------------------ Kenny Thomas had a foul called on him in the Western Conference Finals.
Doc's comment: "Cuttino," said Magic coach Doc Rivers, "he's a b****." That's an abbreviation for "He's a b**** to guard". You would think that they would do a lot better job of clearing that up. Oh well! ------------------ Dream a deadly Dream. . .
