    Carry on.

    Business trip...get back Friday evening.

I would give my left nut for a trip to Spec's right about now, and yes it is 8:00 AM.

I'm in Addison, with no rental car. Staying at a hotel right next door to the office building where my meetings are taking place, so I didn't think I needed a rental car.

    I was wrong.

    ARRRRGH!!!!!

The only reason I really hate Dallas is because of their lame restaurants and there are no Rockets. Outside of that... it's not so bad a place. :)

... good grief man, you're looking for booze at 8am in the morning?!

I live here, and I don't particularly care for it much. But the area known as the M Streets, parts of downtown, and Lower Greenville, Deep Ellum are allllllright!!!!!

Irving and Los Colinas are both dry. I remember throwing a fit at the Gandhi Mart in Los Colinas before the Big 12 Championship in 2001 because I couldn't buy a case of beer for our tailgate.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...Houston is the best place to live...

I've been to Dallas a couple of times and it does suck...I have a good friend over there who came from Houston and the food isn't as good up there as it is in H-town...

BTW, its 1:44 pm on 9/17/03 and Matt Stevens still sux...;)

I was b****ing about this just last night. And I HATE that freaking Unicard. The principle of the thing drives me nuts. I waited 21 years to be able to legally drink in this country, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna join their stupid unicard program and learn their secret handshake just so I can drink a beer.

Who's the genius who thinks up this crap in Dallas?? And who are all the geniuses who think Dallas is better than Houston, anyway?

    Houston kicks ass. Dallas sucks.

This is all just ridiculous. I lived in Houston for 13 years, and I've lived in Dallas now for 12. Houston I consider to be my hometown, and am biased towards it. But Food? Dallas has some of the best restaurants in the country. Houston really doesn't compete in my opinion. Every city has bad restaurants, and the city can't help it if you visited those during your stay.

The other thing I think Dallas has over Houston is weather. Other than that, you guys have good points.

I have more news for you - the "best" place to live is all relative to what one prefers. But I don't think Dallas NOR Houston ranks in any list of BEST places to live.

I mean this in the nicest possible way, and in no way whatsoever do I intend to besmirch your manhood or intellect, but you have no ****ing idea what you're talking about.

I've never had any trouble finding good food in Dallas. And when I've visited Houston, I never had any trouble finding good food.

I don't drink, though, so I've not been frustrated by the wet/dry thing (and I grew up with it, too, as that's the way things are in Amarillo, as well. I didn't know it wasn't like that in Houston).

I don't get the Unicard dodge, either. I mean, I understand it. But I always thought that if the powers that be are going to go to the trouble of making an area dry, they ought to close the loopholes, too, or else just not bother.

Thank you! The only reason I'd want to come back to Houston is to watch more Rockets games live. The traffic sucks, the weather sucks, the pollution sucks, and Dallas is pretty much Houston, Jr. in that respect.

I love the California coast, but the cost of living is a bit whacko there.
