Jeez, how many times do I need to tell my story on this board?? Short version: I was a huge NJ Nets fan for a very long time (eg. since the Sam Bowie, Mookie Blaylock days)...no one could accuse me of being a bandwagon fan; this was my home team and I loved them through thick and thin. Then Bruce Ratner bought the team and moved them to Brooklyn, stabbing all true NJ fans in the heart. So I hate them now. But I love basketball, so I continue to follow the NBA...looking for a reason to become a fan of a team that is not the NJ Nets. So now I'm in search for a team to become a fan of. It could have been the Rockets, because I was a Yao fan and enjoyed the team during those years...and I am a Jeremy Lin fan because of our shared Ivy League and ethnic backgrounds, so the Rockets seemed like a natural choice. However, Daryl "No Loyalty" Morey and James "I love strippers" Harden made that tough, so I am still in search of a team. I am using Jeremy as one of the factors for me to find a team to become a fan of, because you can't just pick a team out of a hat...you have to have a reason to get involved emotionally with a team. So of course, I am following the Charlotte Hornets now, and I root for them to be successful and for Jeremy to be a part of a successful team. If Rich Cho shows that he can be loyal to players who contribute significantly to their success (ie. they sign Jeremy to a 3-year contract after this season), I will jump all-in with this team because I like the players, the coach, and the organization. So yes, I am currently a mercenary. But I want a home. Too bad it wasn't the Rockets, because I loved Yao, Lin and Matt Maloney. Also appreciated the quality of the team back in The Dream days.
The point is a matter of pride. My NJ Nets were pretty darn awful sometimes. But I never rooted for them to lose. True fans never want their team to lose.
lol, Tracy McGrady fans are so salty. Oh, there are a bunch of DMO threads on the GARM. Here's a Dmo thread. Clutchfans isn't a basketball forum, It's a CLUTCH CITY FORUM. 1999 isn't a join date. It's a date when everyone who joined was a PURE ROCKETS FAN. No YOF, TOF, LOF,... DMO-OF Utopia. It is biblical. We are the chosen ones. And yes. Hakeem > everybody to this day
You went God complex when you said "biblical". Hakeem lives life with an open heart and humility. You should behave in a way that does him proud.
Hakeem thinks Jeremy Lin is a good player. http://uproxx.com/dimemag/hakeem-olajuwon-working-jeremy-lin-post-game/ http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9...adly-hakeem-olajuwon-says-houston-rockets-duo
So apparently you do not respect Hakeem as much as I thought a real Rockets fan would. You think his words can be bought. Shame on you.
Then James Harden walked on the court and Hakeem lowered his head, shaking it in sadness. He finally realized that there IS an "I" in team, as well as an "S" and an "O"
LOL, Jeremy Lin fans who are 'allegedly' former Nets fans who go on Rockets fans site and tell the founding members of the site about Hakeem is like Jeremy Lin telling Jesus about Jesus. mercenary is not the word I use for the LOF.
Hakeem doesn't say bad things about rockets players. I've met hakeem. And I've met lin. One dude was legendary. One dude was the dude the other was not. Take a guess which was which
Also...no need to use "alleged" to describe my NJ Nets fandom...I was tried and true there. First live NBA game I ever saw was actually a rare NJ Nets victory over the Jordan-led Bulls in 1989...
But you said he said good things about Lin because the owner was paying him. Doesn't sound like you respect Hakeem very much.
