Yes but we don't know that and can't risk DMo taking up capspace

There's a timing issue during the free agency period

This. Those who vote "NO" are the ones who understand what the options are. First option in this poll is asking if you like when your team gets screwed hard and Motiejunas screwed even harder. Those who chose to vote for first option have no clue what they're voting for.

I voted yes, just cuz I like DMo on my team. Sad that means his back is worse though. I hope he comes back.

I think people are really overhyping this 1st round pick, as is usually the case. People should periodically go through previous drafts to remind themselves that a late lottery pick is not likely to be some stud. Yes, Kawhi Leonard was picked like 14th - look at the drafts - that is an ANOMALY.

If healthy (which unfortunately is not likely), DMo was worth more than that pick. The dude can draw double teams in the post - that is not your average "role player". He also is looking like he has the potential to be one of the best stretch 4's in the league. Last year, he had great defensive numbers when he played the 4.

The bottom line is that it just sucks that DMo ever got injured. I'm rooting he somehow recovers. And if he does, I'd like it to be on my team. And I am realistic about this "franchise-saving" pick we lost with the voided trade.

I don't know the logistics of the free agency signing period. There are other ways to clear cap space. Would be interested in hearing from Bima about the cap situation, given that Lawson and potentially Howard will be off the books. Also of course the increasing cap...

We don't know enough now to say signing him would be foolish.

Not happy at all. A guy with a more serious back injury than we thought. A streaky shooter with bad defense though who gave effort. All for a protected first round or lottery? Either way a good pick. Not good. Shouldn't be able to do this. What if guys already bought houses, etc. I mean the pistons knew what they were getting/ The chose it to do it. Not fair at all.

the best fa's dont wanna take the risk comign to this miserable failure of a team
use that to our advantage. re-sign dmo for cheap and give him a year off to rehab his back. if it works out great, if not no big deal

Yes and no. I wanted DMo to stay. I believe he will be a very solid player. Not a star, but a starter for sure, and a good one at that. He passes well, shoots decently, has infinite post moves, and is seemingly a good chemistry/locker room guy.

However, if the organization wasn't confident they had at least a good shot at retaining DMo in free agency, or if his back worried them long term, than it was best to get what you can and run. I wonder how much this will effect his market value.

Perhaps this will put a fire under him and he will come out dominating.

This botched trade is a microcosm of this failure of a season....

    At least we're consistent.

I know I am not supposed to happy as a logical fan that Dmo is back.
I not going to sit here and pretend I don't enjoy him being a rocket.
I am not going to pretend that I don't own a dmo jersey.
I am also not going to pretend that I was not irrate when Dmo was glued to the bench in Portland series.

Well, the best picks in Morey's tenure have been 2nd rounders so.....and they are less risky and cheaper.

    Win, win, win.

might as well let DMO rehab the rest of the year and play with the vipers here and there as well as summer league AND THEN see what happens. Hope the Rox go this route versus the risk of playing him only to possibly get hit with another injury setback...meh

If we're trying to tank, maybe play DMo more so we get a higher pick

Nope. We're not winning a title this year and we miss out on a nice draft pick to use or trade for a guy who can't stay on the floor. Seems like our sports teams just have bad luck.

I put no simply because I think we will end up losing D-Mo for nothing this summer. It would have been better to have the draft pick in that case.

I do think the draft pick would have been wasted anyways, though.

I mean, I like Morey and I think he has done a great job here, but if there is one thing that he really has struggled at it's drafting in the middle of the first round.

You guys with the doom and gloom. Dmo is not done, he just needs some more time to recover. He has a unique skill set and hopefully the Rockets will sign him to a discounted deal than originally thought. He loves Houston, he bleeds Rockets red. Here's to the future! Hoping for the best and Dmo retiring as a Rocket! :)

I think the lost 1st rounder likely hosed a trade that Morey would have made in the summer. Now he's gotta scramble again.

    Indifferent.

I think there's a 50/50 chance Dmo may make him self worth while for our playoff run. If he does, then I'm okay with the trade being voided. If he doesn't then I'm not.

I think Dmo / Thornton and good 2nd is a hefty price for a 1st, but it all depends on how the Dmo situation pans out.

If Dmo plays like crap, walks in the off season then we got screwed

If Dmo plays great and re-signs then the void was a blessing.
