We take the most 3's in the NBA.

    Fredette is a career 38% from 3.
Lit up the D League All Star game with some shots from 4 ft outside the arc.
Shot 6-12 from the 3 pt line. 50%!!

    Here are some highlights.

Yeah, it's an All-Star game with little defense you could say.
But his shots aren't all layups and gimmes.
You gotta make those shots from 3.

We could have picked him up for nothing.
But now, it sounds like the Knicks are going to sign him (his home state)

I don't understand why we wouldn't have pounced for such a cheap price

With the Rockets only about $244,000 below the luxury tax threshold, I strongly doubt they will fill those roster spots with anything but 10-day contracts anytime soon. A rest-of-season deal signed before March 5 would push them back over the tax threshold. I don't think they traded a second round pick to avoid the tax, only to turn around and pay it for a 14th or 15th man.

Rockets are not able to make any additions due to luxury tax. Dekker is the only new guy for the second half. We are not able to sign even a minor league player without going over the cap. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Novak secured a buyout Friday from Denver and, according to league sources, is poised to sign with the Bucks once he gets through waivers.

Nope because that would cost money and put the team into the luxury.

So, IF the Rockets waive Lawson, they still will be 244,000 below the luxury tax threshold or will they have more to play with?

Lawson's money is guaranteed. It wouldn't change anything.

I think if Lawson agreed to a buyout it would change.

But fat chance he would...On the other hand he seems too reckless and idiotic with his financial decisions so who knows. But we would let go of a potential trade chip. Even though I highly doubt that Morey will be able to use it with the way Lawson has been playing and with how much available cap space there is around the league. But there's a chance.

I doubt we release Lawson. He's most likely not amenable to a further discount of his salary since he already gave up next year's guarantee and we didn't trade him before the deadline.

The most logical move here to create extra cap space to sign some players would be to release Terrence and Philly claim him for his birds rights or Terry so Dallas or another team can claim him for a playoff run. That takes their salary off the books and gives us enough cap to sign a couple guys to minimum salary deals and perhaps a third guy to what's left of our MLE ($1.2 million) if we like that player enough to want to control him for 3 seasons (Joshua Smith or Putney might be candidates here if they agree to 3-year non-guaranteed deal).

Some of this may be decided over the next few games as we observe whether we can tilt towards the playoffs or whether we're going to fade down.

If we fade away from playoff contention I fully expect some roster shuffle involving Terence and Jet. If we stay in the playoff chase you can expect a Chuck Hayes or similar signing (s) in late March to mid-April.

most of the Viper players are not actually on the Rockets roster, some people don't realize this.

can only bring up players who are on the Rockets roster

What if DH does DM a solid and gets suspended a couple more games? Will that free up enough money to sign a couple of prorated minimum contracts for the rest of the season and stay under the luxury tax?
