His editors will require him to SHOW his sources before they let him publish....

So while he may not reveal them, they won't let him just make up crap like this.....

He has to be able to back it up, in case his employer is sued.

Yeah like all the times ESPN has been sued for erroneous reports

-Broussard reporting on Cuban/DJ free agency -

    http://deadspin.com/mark-cuban-calls-espn-dip****-chris-broussards-reportin-1716747550

    -Mortensen deflategate Tweet

-Anything that SAS & Bayless on their show

-Rich Buchers rant about Utah and their Mormons

-countless Chris Sheridan fake "source" reports

    -etc etc.

If ESPN isn't getting sued out the a#% on a daily basis what makes you think that a two bit part time writer who writes an article once a year for the sister nba affiliate is going to get heavily edited and potentially sued for saying something like this?

Look I'm not saying this is not true. What I am saying though is that Fran has a history with the Rockets that immediately rules out his credibility due to an obvious bias. As a long time Rockets fan from back in the day and knowing the relationship he has with the Rockets & the Chronicle why anyone would take his word at face value is beyond me.

.... Unless he's just saying something you want to hear because the drama excites you.

You can't sue on opinions, but if you are reporting something about players, and it is untrue, and they sue, whomever he works for can be held liable.

He is not saying it is his opinion, he is saying he has seen the texts..etc....

But whatever, if folks want to discredit a respected journalist - fine by me.

I agree. As much as ppl hate Fran he's not going to jeopardize his career by creating a fake story.

He was never been respected by Rockets fans. His entire style is whimsically discrediting the team.

I know fans don't like him or what he says sometimes, that is irrelevant, it is whether he is lying in stuff he publishes, which is the point, that would ruin his career.

This is not an op-Ed piece it is him reporting something, which is vastly different for a journalist.

    Classic shoot the messenger posters.

Apologize for the FO and dismiss anything you don't like , regardless of how many people report it. Wrong consistently, and when you point it out you're being "too negative"

Yeah, ain't it funny that people didn't want to believe what a few of us could see quite clearly.
