I'd be intrigued with a Dwight for Gasol/Noah trade (with the Rockets waiving a player like Terry or Smith or including them to make roster space).

You get Gasol to help in the short term and you have both bigs there in free agency to bring both or at least one of them back. You have Noah's bird rights. You want to bring back culture and defense... you will get a good start next year if you resign Noah, and have him on our bench at least for the rest of the season.

For Chicago, I think Dwight sort of makes sense for this year and to bring back long term. It seems like them putting Gasol on the market now means they have intel that he's looking to sign elsewhere this Summer and Noah is out for the season in a year they NEED to make a playoff run.

Read my prior post where I mentioned 'IF DWIGHT IS MOVED" it makes sense. With Dwight here I don't necessarily hate it but I realize the issues people would have with that (even though at the end of the season with the Lakers when D'Antoni FINALLY started running high/low sets those two guys really clicked).

    3. Do you expect Dwight Howard to remain with the Rockets?

Ford: Through the trade deadline? Yes. I don't think his trade value is high enough to net the Rockets a significant upgrade. Through free agency? No. The Rockets have serious chemistry issues and might not be ready to pay him what he can make on the open market. This isn't all Howard's fault, but I think there will be a mutual parting of ways.

Doolittle: He's too much risk for most teams. Yet the Rockets have to be scared of the status quo, so maybe you don't have to give up as much as you'd think to get him. In the end, I'd guess he stays, if only because there are more questions about him than concrete answers.

Engelmann: Yes, I think the chances are better than 75 percent. While the Rockets should try to make some sort of deal, it doesn't necessarily have to involve Howard. Given that he recently turned 30, appears to be on the decline and will opt out or make the max for another year (he has a player option for 2016-17), it may not be so simple to find any takers.

Elhassan: Yes. While I believe both parties are better off with a separation, I just can't imagine a team willing to give up multiple assets for the right to pay Howard a deal that starts at possibly $31.3 million next season (Howard is expected to opt out of his current deal at season's end). If you're that excited to pay him, you'll probably just wait until the summer.

Pelton: Yes. Looking around the league, there just aren't many destinations that make sense and the few that do (Boston and Charlotte, notably) don't seem to have any interest in giving up the kind of package Houston wants in return for Howard. Barring a change, Houston may as well wait out his free agency.

If we trade Dwight elsewhere we can easilly get Gasol+ Snell for Ariza. If we wanted.

Gasol though doesn't come with full Bird rights (since it's a give he will opt out) and he wants to go to Memphis. He will also never accept coming from the bench and if have him with Harden our PNR defence will be hiddeous.

About what I expect. No value out there, better off taking the chance that no one offers him a max deal in FA and you can get him to stay for less than max.

Miami also wants Conley along with Dwight:

    Miami in: Conley, Dwight
    Houston in: Dragic, Whiteside, pick
    Memphis in: Winslow, Lawson

We don't want Dragic's contract without Winslow so it's not happening.

Ironically I saw this as a selling point to why a team might take a risk on Howard. In the end, I think if the Rockets are getting less than 50 cents on the dollar for Dwight it's better to just take the risk.

I also gotta believe Morey was more than happy to shop Dwight to get people calling about TJones/DMo. "Oh, you don't want Dwight, well I have a perfectly fine Tjones for you and I'll give him to you for a good price." Throw in a couple of "you're breaking my balls there" statements and boom, TJones is no longer our problem.

    You and Kobe...

    Wait...

Could the Rockets use Pau to lure Kobe?

He is a FA next season, but I swore there was something going on with him this year...
