He broke Corey Dillon's record and then some. Not only did he break the record, but he said he was going to before the game. This reminds me of the Babe calling his shot in some ways. Crazy day. Anybody else see this?
Yeah, I watched a little bit of it near the end. I was going to post about it, but I forgot I think. He could have had 300, I believe. He had some shots in their last drive but didn't quite get it. I know one guy kept getting too many yds and then Lewis couldn't get 300 at the 5 yd line. Also, someone on BAL intercepted it and ran it back, but if he got tackled right away, JL may have had yet another shot. I think at the end, he had like right under 10 yds a carry, which went down in the last BAL scoring drive from over 10. Amazing.
I can't believe he was a holding penalty away from 300 yards! Well, I guess 1000 yards this season will be no problem for him now. Hats off to Jamal, what a way to talk smack and back every bit of it up.
Actually, I don't think he predicted he would break the record. What he said was that if he got 30 carries, he would have a career day. Those are two very different things. But it is still really cool.
Wow. Jamal Lewis, who woulda thunk it? Then again, I hadn't heard of Corey Dillon until he set the record. Congrats to Jamal. I thought he'd faded into obscurity already.
Though Mack won't beat Troy Hambrick's 400yds rushing tomorrow night. And of course, QC's 140 QB rating and 700 yds throwing with 100% will be hard to beat. Yeah, I know, it doesn't count when it happens in a video game...with edited ratings....and on rookie.
Jamal may have put this record so high that its going to stand for a very long time. I dont see anybody rushing for near 300 yards simply incredible. Also you have to give props to the O-Line they probaly all had a career day just like Lewis
He totally didn't. I don't know why all the silly studio hosts and talking heads were blabbing about it like he did either. Or why the wire service story has the first paragraph if the second one is all that he said.
Ehh, Corey Dillon had the old record with 278, just 17 yds less, and that wasn't even that old of a record. I think somebody will crack threehundy eventually.
Nice effort by the former Tennessee Vol... when he's healthy he's one of the best. oh, and... I LOVE YOU... PHILLIP BUCHANON.
funny thing is, is that he was a Free Agent in most NFL Fantasy leagues...next to no one had them as a starting RB
No, he didn't. If you'll read the article with actual quotes of what he said, you will notice that what he said was that he would have a career day if he got 30 carries, not that he would break the single game rushing record. The stories are all writing it up like he predicted it because it is more interesting that way, but I have found no articles that actually have quotes of him saying he would break the single game rushing record. And that is, simply, because he didn't.
Umm... no. I am in four different leagues, and I picked him up in the 2nd round in two of the leagues. He goes in the second round in pretty much every league known to man. You, my friend, are playing with a bunch of dolts.
There are no quotes of him saying it because he wasn't the one who went public with his "prediction". He was talking trash to the browns and they decided to use it as bulletin board material. He wasn't the one who went to the media. I think there is something to this, I know some fans were talking this up during the week, ragging on Lewis for his brashness. Still not as dramatic as saying it to a reporter, but oh well.
