Magic trade Tobias Harris to Pistons for Brandon Jennings, Ersan Ilyasova

Finally some movement.

 

According to Cyber Magic offered Tobias + for Howard. Morrey declined.

I don't blame him. Tobias is young but he's nothing special.
He's a tweener in the bad sense. He can't guard sf well or pfs and he can't shoot well (especially if you take his contract year spike out, now he's back to his normal %).
And his contract will not be a bargain with the cap rise.

In the SVG defence he will get exposed.

 

If Magic are in the mood to deal then Morey needs to be all over that.

Go for Frye/Vucevic/Oladipo/Fournier.

I doubt Hezonja/Gordon/Payton will be made available.

Magic have a ton of talent.

 

Why is Orlando doing this?

And couldn't we have offered something better???

Don't think this is overpaying. Unless you can dump Brewer's contract for an expiring I don't see how we can do much better.

Jones is a zero at this point. Nobody is going to give us anything for him other than a late 2nd.

Frye is on a similar to contract to Brew. He fills more of a need IMO and at least provides you with something on a consistent basis out of the 4 position.

 

I would have loved Harris in Houston. He seems to have that mental dog toughness that the Rockets are lacking

 

We dump two **** players for three point shooting we need

 

Brewer and a future 2nd Rounder for Channing Frye

Frye wouldn't add much, maybe a three a game

we need defensive players, we don't have a problem scoring

I have my theory, but its probably too early to tell how realistic it is. Let's just say they could now have what 16 million in expiring contracts with the two of them. Doing the deal two days before the deadline probably means Hennigan is looking to flip those contracts for a big name player.

What big name player looking to be on the move has recently expressed interest (reported by our own Cyberx) in going back to Orlando?

Also keep in mind that Cyberx ALSO noted that the Rockets wanted NOTHING to do with Tobias Harris' contract.

I'm all for adding defense and it is definitely a need, but I see that as more of a coaching/systemic issue and somewhat of a trickle down effect from Harden.

If we can trade any combination of Brewer, Bev, Jones, KJ for a good defensive 1 or 4 that also fits within our offense and isn't vastly overpaid, I'm all for it.

But I also think that Channing Frye brings more to this team than T.Jones, and Brewer is expendable IMO. So I think it would be a beneficial trade.

 

If Detroit wants to give a max contract to Motijunas, they can have him.

Agree with you on Harris. He does some things well and gives you glimmers of potential, but he isn't especially smart when it comes to basketball and defensively doesn't put forth sufficient effort.

This was about Orlando wanting out from the Harris contract.

Get Frye and Dragic here and watch them become most efficient pick and pop combination again.
