There is no longer any question, Walt Williams is the worst player in all of sports! What do we have to do to keep this player off the court?! ------------------
In this game he is sucking because he injured his hand. He probably shouldn't even be playing. In general, though, he is BAD! ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
Amen Crash. Amazingly, the hideousness of Walt's play is just as unbearable on the radio as on tv. ------------------
Come on, guys, what the hell? Why is everyone always complaining about the Wiz? He is a unidimensional player. He's on the floor for one thing only, and I'll give you a hint, it's not D, boards, blocks, steals or ball handling. Has anyone noticed that his three percentage is right at .400? That's great! He and Bull serve a similar function on the team - when they're on, they can really give a defense problems. Did you see how the Magic were double teaming our guards all over the place? If Wiz or Bull were on, that wouldn't have been happening. I'm sure I'm not giving you guys any new information, but damn, lighten up on the guy a little bit. ------------------
I know, I would rather have Walt Williams than Airball Langhi. I still laugh everytime I think about that crossover langhi tried to do then he got blocked and fell flat on his face. LOL. Best Dan Langhi moment. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
I'd take the 6'10" Bullard anyday over Walt. Bullard has a better shot, and he may actually grab a board or two while he's in there. Both per game and per minute played, Walt Williams gets more points, assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks than Bullard. He also shoots a higher 3pt percentage. Bullard is a better 2pt shooter, though. Walt is paid more, but that's a team's fault, not the player's. ------------------ Is it any coincidence that the Cato is the only Rocket with a temperature scale named after him? I didnt think so!!!!
I will take a ROOKIE with potential...Langhi over both Bullard and Walt. Since we are not going anywhere this year, it is time to see what Langhi has. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from monkeys and apes, then why are there still monkeys and apes?
I'm pretty sure I agree with this totally. I LIKE both Wiz and Bull. They are role players and play their (similar) roles very well, in my view. But if Lanki is going to be the piece that replaces these guys, let's not be sentimental and do it NOW. I for one was heartbroken when Lanki last night missed that three attempt. I think it would have reduced the lead to a managable 8 with about 3 to go. I want him in the game for these opportunities. Why not? People seem to hate Wiz. People seem to sorta like Bull. Whatever. We don't need three guys to play one marginal (if occasionally critiacal) role. Lanki's young and cheap, and if he can play the roll (and maybe even play some D too, on rare occasion), then what the hell? I keep thinking about that one quotation from an SEC coach: "I know of only one way to stop Langhi - to pray." A paraphrase, but you get the point. ------------------
Lanki's young and cheap, and if he can play the roll (and maybe even play some D too, on rare occasion), then what the hell? Have you considered that maybe he can't play the role yet? He has yet to show anything in the NBA, outside of one good game in the Rookie Revue, in which he was only playing with other bad players (note the quality of this year's rookie class). He'll play when he earns it in practice and in his limited playing time. Until then, we have better options -- why not use them? We (theoretically) put out the team that has the best shot of winning. If Walt or Bullard gives us a better shot of winning, why shouldn't we use them? ------------------ Is it any coincidence that the Cato is the only Rocket with a temperature scale named after him? I didnt think so!!!!
Both Bullard and Williams have identical skills. The difference being that Walt Williams thinks he's better than he really is. How many times do we have to watch "the wizard" try to lead a fast break or penetrate down the lane only to have the ball striped or blocked in his face. Bullard knows his limitations and that in itself makes him a better player than Walt Williams. Walt need to be traded. Walt Willaims and a 1# pick for cash sounds good to me. ------------------
Shanna, I don't know how long you have been following the Rockets, but Rudy has always been laboriously slow in making changes to his rotation. Look how long it took him to mix in Hakeem. Langhi is a FAR better athlete then either Bull or the Wiz, and is a part of this teams future. You could DOMININATE in practice and Rudy would still stick to his rotation. I think Langhi can average 15-8 in the NBA, but he needs to play. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from monkeys and apes, then why are there still monkeys and apes?
I don't know how long you have been following the Rockets, but Rudy has always been laboriously slow in making changes to his rotation. Look how long it took him to mix in Hakeem. At small forward, he tends to play the hot players. Walt goes in and out of the rotation alot. Bullard goes in and out of the rotation alot. As for Hakeem, he wasn't playing because he wasn't performing (and he couldn't breathe early on either). In case you've forgotten, he was getting dunks blocked by the rim earlier this season and he was getting schooled offensively by scrubs. As soon as he started performing, he started getting more playing time. Langhi is a FAR better athlete then either Bull or the Wiz, and is a part of this teams future. Being a good athlete does not make you a good basketball player. Maybe he's not adjusting to the NBA tempo well. Maybe he's not running the plays well. Maybe he's not setting picks well. Whatever it is, there's always a reason a player doesn't play, and it's often the little things that we don't see. As for being a part of the future, assuming Collier wasn't hurt, should we have replaced Hakeem with Collier since Collier's a bigger part of our future? (The answer is No, for the same reason: you put the players who are able to help you win now on the court. In my opinion, that player is not Langhi yet) I think Langhi can average 15-8 in the NBA, but he needs to play. That may be true, but before we give him 20+ minutes of playing time, he needs to do something in the 3-5 minutes he does get. ------------------ Is it any coincidence that the Cato is the only Rocket with a temperature scale named after him? I didnt think so!!!!
Shanna, Do something in the 3-5 minutes...come on, be realistic. Langhi needs to get comfortable playing at this level, and he will not do that sitting on the bench. I agree you SHOULD try to win now, but I am no convinced that the Rockets are trying to do that right now. I think they are looking farther down the road then that, and are trying to win WHILE going through the growing pains. Hakeem was NOT performing, you are correct, but that was a matter of not having his role defined, and feeling like PART of the team, rather then an outsider, as soon as that got squared away, he started performing. Langhi can play....and will play well, he just needs ON COURT TIME to develop. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from monkeys and apes, then why are there still monkeys and apes?
Walt's game is downright Poopy!!! ...the phrase "poopy" is copyright (2001) by ali-cat ------------------ "Ive seen more class at a Pig Humpin Contest ." -- moestavern19 makes headlines again, and in the process leaves little doubt as to what Saturday nights in his hometown of Lompoc, California are like. I'd take the 6'10" Bullard anyday over Walt. Bullard has a better shot, and he may actually grab a board or two while he's in there. Plus, if we put him at PF at C, which was available last night with Outlaw there, he can drag the rebounders out to the perimeter. ------------------ "Steve is good. Steve is real good." -- Cleveland's rookie point guard Andre Miller on Rocket rookie point Steve Francis
I think he's been told that he could be traded. Might happen, might not. So a hot-cold player is distracted and errs on the side of cold. ------------------
