Did they beef up Gina Carano with CGI or did she get bigger? I don't remember her being THAT stocky. Enjoyed it a lot. Wife did as well. I had very little background history of deadpool. Just remember my brother loving it a lot while I was a spider-man dude. Both of us just loved the wise crackers and he tried to turn me onto deadpool because it added the element of "i don't give a ****" to it.
I think she probably tends towards 'handsome woman' territory and probably gets stockier when she isn't training daily.
Saw it with the gf last night and I loved it!! Haven't laughed so much since probably Superbad... So, many one liners. I really liked the following, paraphrasing obviously: Seen 127 hours, spoiler alert, chops off hands. Big house yet only 2 Xmen, studio must not have budget Feel bad about the dude who pressures Negasonic into prom sexcs And my favorite: The only thing pulling out tonight
As another poster has said, this is the appeal of DP. Breaks the fourth wall, jokes about everything, is crass, etc. I think the movie could have been a little funnier, though. The "mask" that DP had on during the ending reveal to his gf was hilarious.
I guess it's not for everyone. It's an acquired thing maybe. Too bad some of my favorite scenes were on that highway bridge, which was already shown on trailers or sneak peaks.
Yeah, I agree. Unfortunately this is 2016 and movies will be marketed like crazy to make sure they're a success. Was still great seeing it all in context. I pretty much knew the freeway shootout was the beginning of the film going in though.
I thought that scene was just made for trailers and not shown in the movie. Cus that alone was like a good 10 minute clip. Much like the scene were Will Smith in Ali kept saying "float like a butterly, sting like a bee" and it never showed up in the movie.
One thing I don't understand: Spoiler So the finality of the oxygen chamber...did triggering it give DP powers in addition to regeneration? During the last act, DP not only had acrobatic moves, but he also could jump a little higher than normal human beings could have. I get that he was former Special Forces and whatnot, but I was just wondering if the audience was supposed to perceive the serum + chamber treatment giving DP all those powers. Because aside from regeneration, nothing else was really revealed about what DP could do, in terms of abilities.
Spoiler I'm thinking that the chamber awakened a few mutant powers in him, more than just regeneration. It also made him quicker in reflex, a bit of strength, and infinite sarcasm.
I always thought of it as his healing factor making him much stronger than a normal human being. Normal guy goes to the gym, lifts weights, his muscle tissues tear, then heal stronger. Since Deadpool's body is constantly healing itself, he can push himself way farther than a normal human being, and do stuff beyond what you'd consider regular. Plus, comic books.
That's a good explanation. I just wish they went into his character some more. I know Deadpool is all about the wisecracking and unkillable nature a la Wolverine, but as a very unknowledgeable fan of Deadpool, I wouldn't have minded some more character development. Same goes for TJ Miller's character. I understand superhero movies may forgo plot for action (in this case, action and humor), but I think they could have fleshed out the character more. Apparently, there's a sequel, so hopefully they'll touch on this a bit.
did you guys really like the villian and the actor/acting for ajax/francis? honestly i didn't really like it. in the movie ajax only hated dp because he was annoying. without dr. killebrew you're missing the jealousy factor. i kept thinking that a piece of duct tape (should of put it back on) would kill the plot since ajax wouldn't be so annoyed lol. also, you have dp who really hates ajax for disfiguring and torturing him BUT also saving his life? does that mean that if you remove the torture that lives can be still be saved? like put me terminally ill folks into a coma and began treatment to mutate them but save their life.
I think Wade was probably more upset about all the deliberate sadistic torture and promise of enslavement rather than the disfigurement itself. The disfigurement was just a cherry on the top. And yes, his life was saved, but his only real reason for wanting to survive was his girl, and he believed she would never want him if she knew of his 'condition', so in his mind she was lost to him anyway.. and Ajax was the one he was holding responsible. Was it TOTALLY rational? Nah, probably not. However, those are two words I suspect you would rarely hear associated with Deadpool anyway.
fair enough, i just wish they were able to add the jealousy factor ajax add for dp. would help explain his sadistic nature.
I mean he said he was jealous in the movie. The villain wasn't developed very well, but they kind of let you know he wouldn't be at the beginning of the film. Hopefully it's better in the sequel (they did have to cut a fair portion of the film at the last minute -- $9m worth).
Pushes up glasses: Spoiler Generally, mutants only have ONE power, Wolverine being the exception with bone claws in addition to a healing factor. So any extra abilities that DP have are related to his healing factor. It's a generally accepted fact that Mutants are more advanced physiologically than humans, so that may help explain the hyper-acrobatics he performs.
not sure spider-man is considered a mutant. Mutants are an evolutionary thing in the comics i believe. Being bit by a spider wouldnt count.
