I was pissed off at Morey for not getting dragic last year at the trade deadline.

    I would love getting dragic.

I am tired of watching harden running the show. Time to let someone else have the keys.

Man, Whiteside must be a horrible professional for the Heat to give up on that kind of production at that age at a position of need.

Part of me wants the team to get Goran just so there could be a bit of "better late than never" around here, but these deals are always so fluid. If a mouse farts near the framework of an NBA trade the whole thing "collapses like...a...bunch....of....BROCCOLI!" (Young Frankenstein)

    He's a headcase.

Since I seem to be quoting movies, how about Bull Durham? "He's got a million dollar arm....and a five cent head." That was about a baseball guy, so make it, "He's a mega-million talent, but he has a five cent head."

I would not trade for Carmelo.

Dragic would be about as good of a fit next to Harden as the Rockets could hope for. He has the ability to play on or off the ball, and can hit jumpers when open.

I mean I will definitely be on the fire Morey bandwagon if the Heat end up with Horford and Teague and we get Dragic and Whiteside. If the damn Hawks want Dwight, then why the hell not trade straight up for Teague and Horford? The trade works!

Teague is a better 3 point shooter than Dragic, a better facilitator, gets more steals, is a better FT shooter, doesn't seem to have the ego of someone that thinks he's a superstar when he's not.

    What am I missing?

It's more to do with him coming out of nowhere and being a free agent this summer. Would you take the risk? At least Dwight has been good for 10 years!

I agree and Houston can afford the risk since Harden is so young and we don't necessarily have to win now.

Which do you think they would prefer?

    Horford / Teague for Howard

    or

Horford / Korver for Capella, Motiejunas
    and
    Teague for Oladipo

    And why shoul we either?

    Horford -> ok
Korver -> good contract but old and basically done
Anderson -> overrated chucker that doesn't play D and wants to test free agency...he's also probably goin to be overpaid by some scurbby team like Phoenix

    Bad trade.

Houston can't afford the risk either. You might end up like Philly did with Bynum but worse because Whiteside might be making $25 million a year!

IF we want to keep these three in the trade and Morey wants Dragic. Here, Miami is allowed to keep Winslow and they can get rid of Dragic's contract. I'm sticking to my view that Whiteside has 0 trade value. Whiteside and Dragic do not equal Dwight and they definitely don't equal Horford and Teague. Trading for Whiteside is useless. HE will leave, in my opinion he lacks any loyalty, as is his right. This is assuming Teague and Horford is the going rate for Dwight.

    boom.

How likely is it Howard finds a home before the deadline?

I think that it'll be interesting, you'll see this with Howard & Horford, players of that caliber, because so many teams will have cap space or if they don't, feel they can go get what they need, teams are less willing to give away assets for a guy that would only be a rental for right now and if they want to re-sign him long term, they can do so in the summer. If Houston or Atlanta felt like they weren't going to re-sign them, weren't going to be able to, or weren't going to pay, they may have to take 60 cents on the dollar to do a deal. How do teams look at that? Would they rather roll the dice and get to the summer and figure it out then?

Why has Howard not panned out in Houston?

He has panned out. They got to the WCF. He played great in the playoffs last year. He was dominant against Portland. They didn't lose that because of Dwight Howard. He has injuries and mileage but they gotta figure out which direction they'll go. Clearly they'll build around Harden. That's their guy. The Harden/Howard partnership is not solid. It's slowly devolved. That's part of it here. I would say Dwight played pretty well there. It's unfair to say he's been a disappointment. There have been injuries & games missed but he's helped them win. To get to the WCF, he was a huge part of that.
