He's been the best player on the team this season.

I hope we get a lot in return. I hope we trade that Harden diva too

    This hurts so bad.

Maybe they won't move him and the team will come back changed and ready to pull off a first round upset .. :(

Harden needs to look at himself in the mirror more than anyone on this team and his extremely poor start to the season. Getting a $200 million Adidas contract and rolling with the Kardashians in the off season probably didn't help matters much with his preparedness for this season IMO.

    1) The summer, he is leaving and 2) we are out of the playoffs and we are playing terrible with him or without him. What else can they do ? I hope Lawson,Brewer,TJ and possibly Ariza follow.

Its going to also feed the media with made up storylines about Dwight AGAIN forcing his way out which couldn't be further from the truth.

The team gave up on McHale, and now they gave up on Dwight. Neither guy is perfect and without blame, but they aren't the root of the problem. However they HAVE TO GO in order to create a new identity for this team WITHOUT trading Harden.

The way I look at it you have four major pillars of the franchise -

    -Harden
    -Howard
    -Coach (McHale & now JBB)
    -Morey

Its an easy succession to know the order in which to remove major pillars. McHale was an easy first choice. The 2nd choice isn't going to be Morey when he's still making decisions and if its between Harden & Howard.... we all know that Harden (despite his faults) is the more valuable, younger, & reliable player (at least for the regular season).

Dwight is going to take some unnecessary heat here while McHale got defended by most of the media.... which is disappointing. Howard deserves some praise for his time in Houston. He's been great, and a class act off the court but in the order of succession, he's next on the chopping block.

Dwight is not traded yet. He may even not get traded in the end if Morrey finds only crap or if the interested teams are teams Dwight doesn't want to resign with.

Morey, you can't keep making changes hoping thing will go right if you don't fix the real problem. You already fire McHale and now you're trying to trade Howard? The real problem is Haren and yourself.

also helps when the league lacks any dominant big men play which has become a guards game and having 2 of the best shooters in those positions.

This, he's been our best player the past two years in the playoffs, and to see him go just sucks. The dude battled through a torn up knee last year, anchored a stellar (at times lol) defense during the best Rockets playoff run of my life, and yet, people are acting excited to dump him.

Yes, this year has been extremely disappointing, but unless he's said he won't come back next year, trading Dwight is not a good move.

Capela isn't ready, the guy can't make a dunk ffs. And now with our sh!tty defense, getting rid of our one defensive beast is somehow going to make things better?

I have trusted Morey before, so I'll withhold full judgement until everything has gone down, but this decision doesn't appear to be the right one.

And I'm sure pigs will have wings and be flying be then LOL. J/K. If their going to lose Howard in the off season then they probably have no choice but to move him now and try and get a Horford type of player or someone else who could be an impact player.

Unlikely that Morey holds onto a player that has told him he won't resign here and ASKS him for a trade.

Let's get this clear, the ONLY way this even goes public is because Dwight asked for a trade and Morey is ok with it.

Just name names, especially if they are on Western Conference Rivals.

Agree. And there's always a possibility of a sign and trade in the off season.

[Calm Down] We Will Adjust the Roster

We still have a shot at a championship! Who knows how awesome our roster will be post AS break! I am sure there will be a renewed effort in our remaining core!

*Mods, please feel free to make this its own thread if it is worthy*

I agree. While Harden isn't solely to blame here I believe, he's still the leader of this team, and the engine that drives the team. He's a big reason why McHale lost his job, and Dwight is soon to be no longer a Rocket.

I still believe in James, and want the team to retool around him, but this is definitely on him as much as anyone although he's not solely to blame. There are just too many issues to put it solely on his back though.

I thought the plan was to allow D12 to become a free agent, to sign Durant or another star to a max free agent contract and then go above the cap to resign D12. How does the possibility of bringing in guys in a D12 trade that are under contract beyond this offseason affect our ability to sign a max free agent? I know the cap goes up significantly the next 2 years but is it enough?

No I disagree. If Morrey was willing to pay 30 per then that would be the case. Since he isn't willing to, according to Cyber, doesn't mean Woj posting this means that Dwight asked for a trade.
