Think MIL and HOU are comparable for a trade? Think both need a shake up, just not sure either have the most helpful pieces.
Can't be bothered to look up the salaries right now but: Would Denver do Howard and fillers for Gallo and Barton? Probably not.
Off season pipe dream scenario('s). Trade Brewer, KJ and Jones at deadline for expirings and picks. Cut Lawson when eligible, renounce all free agent rights except for Dmo's. Sign Whiteside to max(21 mill). Plan A - sign Durant to a max contract. Plan B - sign one of (Horford, Conley, Barnes, DeRozan, Beal) to a max contract. Plan C - sign one of (Anderson, Batum, Gasol). Try to sign Smith, Terry and other solid vets to vet minimums. Beverley Harden Ariza Motie / Harrell Whiteside / Capela Add one of the big free agent options, vet minimum players, and sign a new coaching staff.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine Is this plausible? Suns get some picks as well. Hou holds on to Ty cuz he's cap relief, along with other expiring's, and lets Morey go after "Durant" + you get solid players on friendly contracts
Idk why the link isn't working but whatever. Boston out -Bradley, Amir Boston IN -Goran, Dekker Hou Out -Howard, Thornton, Jones, Dekker, KJ Hou In -Morris, PJ, Whiteside, Bradley, Birdman MIA Out -Whiteside, Birdman, Goran MIA In -Howard, Thornton, Price PHO out - PJ, Morris, Price PHO In - TJ, KJ, Amir (+pick maybe)
Whiteside is not a great defender. He will never be as good as Howard on that end. Don't let the lusty blocks fool you like so many others
Yeah plus he's immature, but I just put together a trade of teams/players that have been linked to Hou and if Howard is in fact traded, you get decent players back (some that are already on friendly contracts, & others that are expiring) that also allows Morey to follow his pipe dream of KD, Boston would prolly be the least likely to do this trade unless they get DMO.
No, Morey will never want some guys like Henson, it's not because he is a bad player, those guys can't change team but damage the team's salary cap. if he is a good trade asset, maybe Morey can trade for him
great, because I don't want Morrey to do deals with MIL either. Stay away from the devil. I don't want ANY deals with Hou, Bos, Tor and Den. But as many deals as possible with Sac, Cha, Bkn, Min, Phoenix.
This! He looks good on the scoreboard but is totally overrated. Most of his blocks don't lead to defensive rebounds and give the other team another chance to score. His help defense isn't good either and the Heat rebound in total better when he's off the court. Morey would be an idiot to go after him and pay him this summer and even a bigger fool to trade Dwight for such a scrub. Back to topic, how about... HOU: Lou Williams, Courtney Lee MEM: KJ McDaniels, Brandon Bass LAL: Corey Brewer, Terrence Jones, 2nd Round Pick Houston gets instant scoring off the bench and a quality wing player. Lou can play the point, so another trade for Lawson is possible. Memphis creates a little space, gets fresh blood in KJ and another body in Bass. Lakers can easily pay T-Jones in summer and develop him into Plan B if Randle fails. To make them swallow Brewer's contract, Rockets give a 2nd Rounder (NYK or DEN).
Brewer's like making 7M, I'd do it just to clear cap space. BTW I like MCW, the guy just can't shoot but his D is really good and his intangibles are good too.
I added the numbers in your quote for emphasis. Because when I read that he (1) can't shoot, I thought, "Then he'd fit right in with our team," but when I tripped across (2) that he plays good D, I backpedaled a bit; God knows we need defenders, but every time I hear something from cyberx or Codman, it's how the team is looking for shooters; or when we lose, it's Harden saying, "We weren't hitting our 3's." Thankfully the FO must be painfully aware of our defensive problems. We need a Tucker, perhaps, someone who'll body up on a dude out at the 3-point line. Milwaukee will obviously be looking to deal. I like how malakas wants us to avoid smart GMs and zero in on the dips**ts. HA! Get'er done, "Maury".
MCW won't get traded for Sewer and most probably won't get traded at all unless it's for great value. Because Kidd is a narcisist. It's not a buy low scenario.
So I get wanting to go for rookie contracts and expirings but I don't get two things. 1. Why trade Capela when he is on a 1.3 mill contract? That's perfect. Unless we get a big like either Noel, or Dieng/Plumlee(attached with other assets) back. 2. Cody Zeller is going to be on a 5 mill contact come free agency, we should be aiming for 1 mill, 2 mill rookie contracts not a huge 5 mill deal. Even Smart is pushing it with a 3.6 mill deal but that's not as bad I see Morey's goal I think, it makes a lot of sense to trade every long term contract for cheap rookie deala and expirings, then cash out in free agency with the ability to sign Durant, Conley AND Horford to go with a group of good young rookie players on super cheap deals. So we have to find cheap rookie players who are good enough to play significant minutes on a contender. They also must be obtainable as well. Players that fit the description Schroder ( I think Ariza swap in the off season would be a great deal) LaVine Shabazz Dieng McDermott Mason Plumlee Smart Hood Oubre Portis Rondae-hollis I think we should move Dmo, Jones now for one of these players + assets if needed now, then look for deals for KJ, Brewer, Bev, Ariza in the off season and on draft night. Since in the off season, deals like a straight Ariza for Schroder swap will be possible since teams will have a bunch of cap space.
Because it's going to take Capela to get a player of Smart's ilk from Boston. They're simply not going to move Smart for less than Capela. We're talking about Tyler Zeller. But yes, you have a point. I'm simply trying to acquire a big with some experience that we can use to replace Capela with this season and then possibly figure out what we want to to with the big rotation going forward. Tyler is probably one of the best shooting centers in the league. And he's a very good FT shooter...something we really, really need with Dwight and Smith playing big minutes this season. And Tyler is probably the most gettable Celtic big in a trade. I simply put together a trade that I think both teams would think long and hard about doing. You take Capela out of the deal and Boston has no incentive to do the deal. Boston ain't dumb. I'm not for sure Morey's "goal". I'm telling you what I think is best. Try to acquire a stud 2-way player to play next to Harden and move out long-term salary for expiring vets/rookies that can help us make a run and will provide us with cap flexibility this summer. On your list above any of Schroder, McDermott, Smart, or Hood would be great. The other guys...questionable. Rondae-Hollis is a one-dimensional defender at this stage of his career and he's hurt...and he's most likely unavailable as BKN is rebuilding. The other guys in your list I simply don't believe in...guys like Lavine, Shabazz, Dieng(terrible D for a big), Plumlee (good player, not worth Capela), Oubre (too much bust potential there), and Portis (just another 4 in a sea of 4's in this league) just aren't good enough to merit swapping Capela for. And in fact you can add McDermott to that list as well. I wouldn't move Capela for McDermott....although I like McDermott a lot. See my list below. You can add Schroder to it. I don't have Schroder listed because I'm convinced Atlanta is keeping him as their point guard and they'll eventually move Teague. If I thought he was attainable I'd have him in my signature.
