He can still make the old max. I hope Dwight is okay with that.

oh definitely. If nothing bad happens and his health remains as currently is even without playing b2b for a part of the year, then 20 per is worth it for the most time of his contract.

25 per in 2017 is what guys like Oladipo will get. And Dwight will be paid 20 and be a difference maker in the playoffs and the only thing that holds our defence together.

Cyberx, thanks for the info! Dallas was really the only big-time threat suitor for Dwight. If they aren't going to max him, no one will.

I am sure the Rockets would look at Harrison Barnes as a Rashard Lewis type stretch 4 to pair with Dwight. I don't see how GSW lets him get away unless they get Durant and that would be awful.

Cyberx, hear anything about Al Horford?

So if he's not getting max why the **** wouldn't he just bolt to the Warriors or Cavs for cheap?

I completely disagree, if you are a small town team, you might take that shot, or even an up and comer like Portland.

It only takes ONE owner willing to pay it, and at 30 with a good 3-4 years left of top 7 center play, someone just might...and I suspect WOULD.

    Yeah thanks btw CyberX!

Big Al would be an awesome frontcourt trio of Dwight/Horford/Dmo/Capella(future)

Um, yeah. We're his third choice, behind Dallas and LA. Probably others, too.

He loves us the way Harden loves Bambi the stripper -- if no one else is around, we'll do.

18-20 is basically the value that Dwight currently has. And any team that thinks he's worth 30 million is just not considering his "availability"...

Morey will do his job, but that being said...If Howard leaves for more money... I have no issues. Just doubt that there is a team in the NBA that is willing to pay Dwight the max.

I completely disagree. I don't see a young team doing it and I don't see Dwight going to a lottery team.

Hold up. Cyberx said "Dwight's people." That is Dan Fegan. Of course Fegan is going to reach out to the deep pockets and his "buddies." But that doesn't mean Dwight wants to leave or would leave.

Thanks for the info Cyberx. It really should not be shocking at all that RIGHT NOW we have Fegan and co. making calls to teams to probe about cap space.

And Morey's response is interesting because IF Dwight's people do find multiple suitors with max cap space, you might very well see a last minute Dwight trade come to fruition.

For the record, I DO think Dwight wants to stay, but he obviously wants to maximize on one of if not his final large contract. He also gave up the last year of his deal with the Lakers to hit free agency earlier with the Rockets too so that's also a consideration. Right now, I still don't think Dwight will get traded because (as Cyberx is alluding to) what they are likely finding out is that there are few teams willing to give him the max that are desirable destinations.

(Oh and the LAL thing.... that's strictly about leverage. Large market with max cap space. You HAVE TO have them on your list as a free agent just to inflate your price and create the oh so important leverage).

This may be his last contract so he needs to find a contending team. Sadly Houston wont be in that category

Thanks for the reports, Cyberx. Really appreciate your personal insight and stuff you hear around the league.

With that being said, are there any updates on potential Lawson deals? I remember you said talks with Milwaukee fell through.. But we haven't heard anything since..

what? The max of Dwight is 30 million. Morrey is willing to give him 20 per x5= 100 million dollars. Instead of 30x5 = 150 million dollars. Cuban is not willing to give him 30x4= 120 million dollars.
So Dwight is losing 20 million dollars by not getting a max from another team. And losing 50 million dollars by not getting a max from the Rockets.
If he goes for cheap => vet minimum ..is what ..3 million for a vet of 12 years? That's a loss of 17 million dollars at least a year.

Since Miami is handicapped with the inability to sign whiteside to a Max contract, I think dwight would take less to play with them in Southbeach

Hell no it doesn't. He's working to get Dwight his last major contract. He's doing his job to probe the market for the LEVERAGE needed to get Morey & Les to feel the need to commit the max to Dwight.

There is nothing wrong with this at all. If anything, I'd be made if I was Dwight and Fegan WASN'T working to get me the most amount this Summer in FA. Its his job.

Thank cyber. I think this makes perfect sense for Dwight and Morey - Dwight gets guaranteed money even though his health is in question, Morey locks up an elite defensive big on a hopefully favorable deal. Of course this all depends on the exact dollar amount.

That's a realistic scenario in terms of a destination.
