Brewer is freshly-squeezed dogs**t. Ariza would probably be needed to get that deal done. Even then, LaLa wouldn't let Carmelo "No Trade Clause" Anthony even think of a team not named Lakers or Bulls.

Knicks are a lottery team again - at this point winning a few more games to stay in the 12th seed shouldn't be in their best interest in a talent laden draft - shedding Melo to a team desperate enough to take a swing at the potential locker room cancer he could become for a few good assets and getting out of his massive contract would seem to be in the best interest of both teams.

He's not been relegated to this former superstar bench player role yet (a la Pierce/Garnett) - I think he would rather want to live out a few years on his post prime decline (a la Gasol/Iggy) to get a shot at a title than live in the spotlight relegated to collecting ping pong balls year after year.

The further into the season we hover around .500 the more I think Morey takes a desperation shot at Melo. JSmoove backing up Melo would be tough for most teams to guard much less score at the 4 position for 48 minutes.

HOU in: Kris Humphries & Jared Dudley
WAS in: Corey Brewer & Terrence Jones

Two teams underachieving (although the Wiz have improved as of late) acquiring guys that fit their style. The Rockets get a couple of guys that can space the floor, one being a solid perimeter defender, the other being a solid rebounder (lol imagine Humphries and Harden on the same team with the Kardashian BS). The Wizards get two athletic guys to run the floor with Wall, something they need with the likes of Nene, Gortat, Gooden, etc plodding around.

...thanks in large part to the return of Bradley Beal and, in no small part to the dumbass referees when they played the Rockets....

    Carry on.

I'm just spit-balling, trying to think more realistically than these other guys pulling stars for a package of KJ, Dekker and a bag of air.

I know. I'm not criticizing at all. I just jumped in when I saw you mention the Wizards' improved play of late....which might or might not prevent them from making a trade.

If Dudley really wants to be on this team, then I'd like to get him, to be sure. He's a quality player, person, and, hell, I mean, he wants to be here. WANTS to be here. Can't say that about too many players, probably.

Humphries? I don't know. We need to step up at the 4, not sideways; but, again, no criticism from me. Might be a price to pay for them taking Brewer off our hands, although their familiarity with Ariza makes me think he'd be in their asking price.

76ers get two young players to try and develop into a shiny piece.

Knicks solve their PG issue and get a strong rotation of SF's while dumping a poop salary.

We get another chucker that doesn't play D who may or may not help this team

A year less and half the salary, I'll take it. At the very least he's easy enough to flip, unlike Brewer. Now Ariza, If they were asking for him I'd want Oubre, and probably still say no. That is, unless we say "**** this season" and just pursue free agents.

The bigger issue is that Howard's market value doesn't approach that of Griffin and Love right now, so I doubt the other teams would find this equitable.

The trade would only happen IF the Clippers want to get rid of Griffin. If they do, then getting Love (plus maybe DMo or TJo from us) isn't a bad return.
Cleveland upgrades from Love to Dwight - fits what they are trying to do a lot better, and we could send them the other of DMo/ TJo.

He might not be a 3 point specialist but he is a Super Star in his prime!. One of the Formula of Moreyball is to have 3 Super Stars. With him they can't double Harden anymore. He is a menace inside the 3 point line. Blake finally give us a lethal weapon inside. Offensively will be a great two punch. Defensively there is lot to be desire. With a few tweaks here and there and a couple of free agents/trades it will definitely work. But I would rather keep Howard and go after Barnes and Bradley. Or Durant

Not arguing with you that Dwight has quietly had a great year and meshes better with Lebron than Love in the same way that he probably meshes better with Harden than Love. But his market value isn't as high as Love and Griffin because those two are in their prime and can be locked up long term, while Dwight is on his way out of his prime (if that hasn't happened already), and will be looking for big money. And how does that fit Cleveland's roster where they already have two big men with limited range (TT and Mozgov)?
