I'm blown away that so many prefer Love over DMo. Now I'm not saying anything else as I want to get the thread going but you bet I'll have plenty later.

Clearly Love is the better player, and would fit perfectly on this team.

DMo is also a good fit in a different way, but Love would be the obvious choice here.

    That's not the choice
    The
Choice is . . . DMO and his upcoming contract Versus Love and his contract

No way DMo gets Klove money
    BUT
The amount he will get . . . is he a better value than KLove at that monster contract he has?

We have about half of a season of Donatas Motiejunas to tell us that he has the potential to be a really good NBA player.

We have about 3 to 5 full seasons (deducting obvious injury plagued seasons) of evidence to show us that Kevin Love isn't just a really good NBA player.... he's downright awesome. Maybe not superstar level on a playoff contender, but he's def. good enough to be a max paid player as your second/third option.

I'd trade Dwight for him honestly.... but that will never happen due to the situation with Dwight off the court. Anything else, and I doubt Cleveland will listen to offers. Despite Loves' lack of stat's & key role in Cleveland, there is surely no doubt among NBA GM's that he's worth to them what he's being paid in Cleveland.

So to the OP's question, it doesn't matter if D-Mo is on a minimum contract or Kevin Love is making the max.... he's a proven all-star level player at a relatively young age.... Kevin Love all day every day. D-Mo is still very much a gamble project who can't get healthy. I still love his talent & potential long term, but there are more question marks than guarantees with him right now.

That's not a fair comparison. That's comparing a big guy coming off missing almost a full season due to a back injury to a guy that's proven himself as a franchise player. Compare him to a young big with all-star potential like Derrick Favors or Thaddeus Young.

This off season . . . this comparison will be the one they have to make
    HOW MUCH IS DMO WORTH?

Fair or Not . ..they have to decide

How much is D-Mo worth?? Well he's worth what the market is willing to pay him. Much of that will be decided by how he plays when he comes back. Likely the market will be dictated by risk and teams gambling on him. NBA teams gamble a little bit, but they don't take that huge of risks (giving D-Mo a major max-like contract).

My guess is the Rockets have run through and will continue to run through the data that suggests what the threshold is they can afford to pay D-Mo or Jones for that matter in free agency. The longer D-Mo stays injured the more that ability to hit that number becomes reality.

What the data shows is a good bet to get value for D-Mo on real play vs. contract...??? Its anyones guess. I dunno 7 million a year x 4 years... maybe your max threshold is 10 mil per. That's just a guess. The data likely won't be firm until June so my guess is with so many unknowns they probably keep him, and gamble on free agency since its probably a less risky gamble than you'd originally thought back this Summer.

Barring a MAJOR report or setback
there is NO WAY IN HELL DMo makes less than 10 Mill

Honestly probably closer to 15 Mill

Are the Rockets looking to make a 15 mill investment into DMO?
    Is he worth it?
I'm asking YOU would you put 15 mill into him
    I'm asking DaDaMan . . . I'm asking the Board

I'm asking what is the expectation of DMO for the 15 Mill?
I just cannot see DMO getting less than Chandler PArson's Money

Kevin Love for Howard,T.Jones,Thorton and future 1st would get it done.

I would do that trade all day. Most people dont understand, when Houston gets K.Love, and surrounds him as 2nd guy, run plays thru him, hes going to be a 20-10 monster every night, like boozer in utah. Harden will also benefit from Love being outside offensive player, gives him alot of room to drive now, instead of howard cloggin up the lane.

Kevin Love, and Harden is perfect 1,2 punch to rebuild around. I would start by finding takers on Ariza, brewer, as well. Sign Conley and Batum after this horrible season

Clevland wants to win now. D.howard, Lebron, and Irving should be enought to do it.

Roll out a team like this next season

    Conley,Beverly
    Harden, Kj Daniels
    Batum, ? , Dekker
    K.Love, Harrell , ?
    Capela, ?

I don't see any way he gets 15 million dollars a year on a long term deal. He doesn't just have a minor back sprain. He has major back problems and he's a big. That's automatically a red flag. Unless he comes back and tears it up for 3 months with 20/10 stats, he's gonna average around 10 million a year for 4 years. Or if someone really wants to gamble, something like 15 million a year for 2.

I don't see him averaging 20/10 though. Nothing he's shown this season indicates he's ready or able to get back to his pre-injury form from last season.

What contract amount? That does come into play - though, my philosophy is not to care about Les money, I just want the better players....I don't care if Les has to pay millions in Lux tax.

    Just want to BUMP this . . .. .
YEa. . . i guess I am kind of hating on Love.
Maybe I will Jinx Myself and Love will go on a tear
    and wreck the Warriors

but right now . . . i just think of him as SAWFT

We have our questions on DMo . . .
At this point LOVE Doesn't deserve that contract he has
and I don't know if DMO deserves to be paid half that

Isn't there some other white guy you can put on the list? This is, after all, DaDakota we're addressing here.

    Ryan Anderson, perhaps?

    We have to resign DMo.
If they give him like 15 mil a year. . . I will be disappointed
