http://espn.go.com/nba/powerrankings/index.html check out espn and their blasphemous comments..if any of you dont boycott espn from now on you are not a rockets fan. that goes for me too. ------------------ make it stop.
ESPN is ridiculous...they should do their homework before putting up such smack. ------------------ "I think the people who believed the world was flat were pretty stupid. You would think at least those living near mountains would know better." - P. Mesku
We should flood them with user comments. What kind of idiotic statement was that, anyway? To say we would not make the playoffs is one thing but to list those as the reasons pisses me off! ------------------
Yea the rockets are better than at least 5 teams ahead of them, and I think they are better than the nuggets. The CELTICS?! Gimme a break. ------------------
Here was my response to their Houston comments. I sent it to them using their comments section. No network with people as obviously dillusional as your power ranking staff should make predicitions about what team should expect to be in the playoffs. Oh, and by the way, how in the hell can a team that was whipped so soundly by a team that shouldn't expect to make the playoffs manage a number one ranking? Grrrrrrrr.... ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible. [This message has been edited by Jeff (edited February 13, 2001).]
I think everyone needs to get off this whole "disrespect by the media" trip that they seem to be on...The only thing that matters is that the Rockets continue to improve and the fans come out and support them...Once we start to win on a consistent basis (no three game losing streaks after three game winning streaks) and beat a few Western Conference teams (has any team EVER had two losses in one season to the Clippers?), they will earn the respect of the media The main reason that Indiana and Boston are ahead of the Rockets is simply because they are contending for a playoff berth over in the LEASTern conference... Everyone just needs to sit back and enjoy the ride! ------------------ If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding!!
I know all of the teams listed above Rockets are closer to the playoffs than them, but I thought the power rankings was just that - power rankings, and the 'playoff' fact have not stopped ESPN from ranking Sonics way up there... Now come on: 20. Rockets (25-25) 3-3 21 No team with Mo Taylor, Shandon Anderson and ancient Hakeem Olajuwon should expect to be a playoff team. This is.... aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhh We are way better than... 19. Celtics (22-27) 18. Pacers (21-27) 17. Hornets (26-25) So we should atleast be ranked 17th, and by this I'm not even looking with Rocks eyes... By power terms we should also be ranked ahead of: 16. Raptors (26-23) 15. Magic (25-23) and we should be expect to be ranked ahead of all these and 14. Nuggets (27-24) next week. With the injury problems Rockets had before the break and with the though schedule and the high-rolling steam we got now we oughta be up there aound no 14. And of course... in the end... expect to pass 13 Suns (28-20) and 12 Sonics (28-24) but of course we have to keep winning, and winning and winning... thats 7... lets make it atleast 8 by beating wolves too... ------------------ We can reach our destination, but it's still a ways away. No team with Mo Taylor, Shandon Anderson and ancient Hakeem Olajuwon should expect to be a playoff team I suppose the keyword here is EXPECT. Its amusing how two of the three about were highly sought after the last two years and they are now implying they are mediocre (which they are at this point) ... but they do have a leg to stand on regarding Hakeem. Yeah, we know the other West teams have more size, but maybe this is the year Karl and John shock some team. I usually don't diss upon the Jazz as much as you guys, but this statement is ridiculous. This 'ancient' team had their chance a couple years ago ... pretty amusing to think they actually have a chance. It appears these rankings were done a few days before the allstar break and made a couple changes to their rankings. ------------------ its all good and fun till someone gets hurt ... then its absolutely hilarious! ESPN can take that comment and stick it right up their Pippen. ------------------ "Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen" -Hudson
16. Houston (Last Week #14) - Franchise said after a loss to the Clips, if he were a fan, he wouldn't come to any of his games. Um Stevie, have you ever peeped your own highlights cause, damn! We'll rush you a copy of Ball Above All so you can catch up on how good you are. Well, yeah this is better for Rockets. This is still last weeks ranking, so we should even get higher up in the new one. We're still ranked behind Celtics in this one but they already rank us ahead of Nuggets, and another thing - how the hell could they rank Sonics at #6 the week before that again - I guess they have a total different approach than ESPN thats for sure. ------------------ We can reach our destination, but it's still a ways away.
AT...during the championship years the got absolutely no respect at all... So what makes you think it will change now? ------------------ "Excuse me while I whip this out!" Cleavon Little in Blazing Saddles
How could ESPN hired bunch of MORONS, who put ROCKETS on No.20 on their latest power ranking. We desrvedat least at no.15 or 16.Can you dig!! ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
CBS Sportsline has us ranked 16 thank God. They have a pretty decent site and the writer gave us huge props: 16. Houston Rockets (17): The resilience of this young team is pretty amazing, when you consider it is based on two young players like Francis and Mobley. It's also a testimony to Rudy T. The Dream isn't a star anymore, but he is a legend, and if he gets it going the second half of the season, you never know. By Mike Kahn SportsLine.com Executive Editor At least one writer has his head screwed on straight.....and he thinks we have a legit shot at the playoffs!!!! ------------------ "Chucky who?" I disagree with the rankings too. Hopefully the Rockets ignore everything and everyone and just let their play do all the talking. Success tends to make everything fall into place. ------------------ 5..4..3..2..1.....We have lift off! Go Rockets!
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/bk/bkn/819653 I think the Power rankings in the Chronical are a lot closer to what they should be with the exception of the Lakers that should be a lot higher and the Bucks that should be a lot lower. I also think the T-Wolves and Jazz should be a few spots lower. They have the Rox at 16. IMHO there is no way that any eastern conference team should be in the top 8 or 9. My rankings would be (yeah like they mean anything): 1. Spurs 31-16 2. Kings 31-15 3. Blazers 35-15 4. Lakers 31-16 5. T-Wolves 32-18 6. Jazz 32-15 7. Mavs 31-19 8. Suns 28-20 9. Sixers 36-14 10. Nuggets 27-24 11. Rockets 26-25 12. Sonics 28-24 13. Knicks 29-18 14. Heat 30-20 15. Bucks 29-18 16. Raptors 26-23 17. Hornets 26-25 18. Magic 25-23 19. Clippers 16-34 20. Celtics 22-27 21. Pacers 21-27 22. Cavs 20-27 23. Pistons 19-31 24. Nets 17-34 25. Hawks 16-33 26. Warriors 15-33 27. Grizzlies 13-36 28. Wizards 12-37 29. Bulls 6-42 No way the east could get any more respect from from me. I should have put the Celtics, Pacers, Cavs, Pistons, Nets and Hawks behind the Warriors and Grizzlies because if they were in the west they would be hard pressed to have 10 wins by now. Same thing goes for the Sixers, Knicks and Heat. Put them in the west and they are fighting for eighth seed in the play offs at best. Bucks would not even be challanging for a play off spot if they were in the west. The East just sucks! All the good records on the eastern conference teams are inflated because they play most of their games against eastern conference teams. ------------------ [This message has been edited by crash5179 (edited February 14, 2001).]
I'd take An Ancient Hakeem Olajuwon with 17 points and 12 rebs over any other F***ing Center in the Midwest God good they piss me off . ------------------ click here to see a legend Houston Rockets fun facts Moochie Norris Got the nickname "Moochie" from his grandfather, who liked the Cab Calloway song, "Minnie the Moocher" His full name is Martyn Norris
How much you wanna bet that ESPN dissin the Rocks and the game with Philly have things in common? ------------------ 5..4..3..2..1.....We have lift off! Go Rockets!
If they were in the Eastern Conference, the Rockets would have a legitimate shot of making it to the NBA Finals. In the West they could easily miss the playoffs. That is mind-boggling. So there is no way that an Eastern team should be ranked #1 (minus their best defender) and there's no way that 4 Eastern Conference teams should be in the top 10. ESPN's ratings are a joke. ------------------ I am Jack's utter lack of surprise. www.clutchtown.com
Holy ****. Normally I don't get too upset about these things, because, to anyone on the outside looking in, we HAVEN'T looked as dominant as we'd like to think we are. But the Celtics? Hornets? Pacers? Hell, only ONE spot ahead of the ****ing Nets? The Nets have become my second-favorite team, but ****, they ****ing suck. That list is absolutely a disgrace. ------------------ Jazzkiller
