Adrain Griffin has arthro knee surgery today AG had arthroscopic surgery done on his right knee today for a injury he got in workouts in Dallas. Mostly just to clean up loose particles in the knee. He should still be able to joing the team in camp with no problem.
No, agreed Dark Horse....could have been a little more full-explanatory. But, it gets you to open up the thread i guess. Marketing ploy.
very true darkhorse! it made me worry bout our small forward situation more! but anyways hanks for the info faos!
Sorry. I tried to edit but it won't let me change the title to: ADRIAN GRIFFIN HAS ARTHROSCOPIC KNEE SURGERY BUT HE'S OK.
Maybe suck is harsh; "mediocre at best career journeyman" might be better, given that he's on his 3rd team in his 4th professional league. Why did the Rox select him? I don't know. Why did Boston and Dallas not keep him? I don't know that either. Maybe because he's a mediocre at best career journeyman.
Adrian Griffin - knee surgery FYI -- Houston (Ticker) - Houston Rockets swingman Adrian Griffin, signed last month as a free agent, underwent successful arthroscopic surgery Wednesday on his right knee. Griffin suffered a minor injury during offseason workouts in Dallas. The procedure repaired and cleaned up loose particles in the knee, and Griffin is expected to begin rehabilitation immediately and join the Rockets in training camp, which starts October 2. The 6-5 Griffin signed with the Rockets on August 7 after spending the last two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks. He averaged 4.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.04 steals in 74 games last season, including 48 starts. Griffin played in the CBA, USBL and Italy before joining the Boston Celtics in 1999. In four years, he has averaged 5.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.15 steals. Copyright SportsTicker 2003.
Maybe suck is harsh; "mediocre at best career journeyman" might be better, given that he's on his 3rd team in his 4th professional league. Interesting. You know, you could have said the same thing about Avery Johnson and Mario Elie who finally hit it big at about the age that Griffin is now. Sometimes players going through adversity helps them develop into better players and become solid role players. What makes Griffin any different from those players? Same goes for Chucky Brown. Why did the Rox select him? I don't know. Why did Boston and Dallas not keep him? I don't know that either. Maybe because he's a mediocre at best career journeyman. Why didn't Houston keep Avery Johnson? Or San Antonio originally. Or Golden State? Or the countless other teams that let him go? Why didn't Portland keep Mario Elie? Were they mediocre at best career journeyman? And Ruben Patterson would be a perfect addition to the Rocks if it were not for his attitude and reputation. He is a quality player. What if I told you he has been on 3 teams in 5 years, and could be on his 4th team in 6 years? Is he a mediocre at best career journeyman? Or Alvin Williams who has suddenly turned into a serious contributor? Sometimes those are the best roleplayers for a team that wants to improve themselves. You don't need to be a "name" player to be an important player.
rocksmillenium, I hope griffin is good. But thus far he really has been nothing special, and he's been in the league for a while. For every Mario Elie or Avery Johnson, there's about 10 or 20 guys that filled up space and did nothing more. Could he turn into a great role player in the right situation? I guess. He really hasn't so far, I mean he's a defensive player who got let go by the defensively challenged mavericks, so what does that tell you? Is it necessarily bad that he's got a journeyman's pedigree? No, it's fine if you want him to be your 8th-12th man.... ...but that's not the case, he's apparently our starting small forward. So his blue collar roots become less than appealing to me. I'm just playing the odds, and odds are that he sucks.
Beggars can't choose. Well, maybe the Rockets don't have the money to sign better players this that's why so far they've gotten not-so-big-name NBA players in Adrian Griffin and Eric Piatkowski. Judging from what I saw from the LA Summer League- I watched the Dallas-Memphis game, I think Dallas just a whole lot stronger with their signing Marquis Daniels and Josh Howard. Didn't the scouts notice these two before? Wow, Daniels scored 38 and Howard 22. Gosh, I hope that Malik Badianne does to play and is some good.
They got them for their scoring ability(In summer league by the way)?? That makes a lot of sense for Dallas. They are just training camp fodder that will not make the roster. If they do, they will most likely be on the injured list all year. Comparing scrubs to Griffin and Piatkowski seems foolish to me. Or did I just misread your meaning? I probably did.
Is this one of those 'repeat BBS speculation often enough and it becomes true' deals? The only place I've seen AGriffin mentioned as a starter is by posters here. And, it never seemed likely to me. I'll continue to assume Glen Rice is our starter at small forward. Adrian Griffin is an 8th or 9th man.
