even though the Rockets lost, this was a very entertaining game. Kenny Smith was on fire in the first half.

That was a good game I'm sure, can't remember, but the stuff that's CLASSIC is Yao-Shaq: I - I loved that game.

I remember flipping channels and seeing a classic game with the Rockets and Jazz. Turns out I tuned in just in time to see "the shot." Really got me mad.

I'll probably check this game out. I like watching how good Hakeem really was. He always amazes me, even after I know what he's going to do in these classic games.

Yay! Remember how embarrassing it was when everyone on the Rockets stopped playing hard and just assumed they could win another championship because someone else would step up?

    Relive the moment!

ahhhh....the memories....the first season we played with those NASA PAJAMAS and we get swept by the SONICS. Those jerseys were cursed from the beginning. I still remember how we had big leads in the first half but collapsed in the second half for the first 3 games. If i remember right, in the fourth game, trying to avoid elimination we tried a different approach by being down in the first half and trying to get back in the second but we still got eliminated thanks to those JERSEYS!

Damn, i can still see the points being scored back and forth by the Dream and Kemp. Everytime it was the post up.....ahhh.....the memories!

Can't wait to see the NEW UNIZ/COACH/ARENA/PLAYERS/STRATEGY/POWER DANCERS!

game 4 was the memorable game for me in that series...it was mother's day...we came back from a pretty big 4th quarter deficit to tie it and go into overtime...ended up losing, but at least the guys went down with a fight...Horry's pre-game "we'll get 'em next year" comments notwithstanding.

i remember being pretty bummed after that game, though...i took my mom to the game...we met the rest of my family at 59 Diner afterwards and my front-running, bandwagon brother (whom i still love dearly) was giving me a hard time about the Rox losing.

Bad memory (as in "I don't want to remember).

That game was one of the 13 straight we lost to the Supersonics (if I am not mistaken). It is safe to say that just because of the spanking the sonics were handing to us we decided to get CBark to curb that "leak" only for another one to develop in the form of the Utah Jazz (thank you Antoine Carr  ). Anyway those years were very painful for me as a Rocket fan.

It was more like 16 or so. The Rockets lost game 7 in the wc semifinals in 93,4 in 94,95,and in 96 regular season and playoffs. If you add it up, the Sonics beat the Rockets 17 straight times before the Rockets traded for Barkley and we beat them the first regular season game we played and then beat them 4-2 in the playoffs. They used to have the Rockets number because Rudy would run Hakeem to the same place and the Sonics would trap Hakeem and zone everyone else up. Just like the past yrs, Rudy would never adjust, they just made a trade to make Rudy look like a problem solver. Instead of moving Hakeem to the high post or somewhere or setting a back pick, Rudy would run Hakeem to the same low block so Seattle could just trap the **** out of him while everyone else just stood around.

actually it was just 13 in a row, because the Rockets beat seattle both times in Houston in 93-94 season.

Not disputing that, but I had heard 16 as well (from Malosky IIRC)... Perhaps they're counting preseason games in that total or something?

Shucks, missed the game. Good thing they're re-running it in an hour. I loved the court that year, with all the blue. :D

does anyone else hate george karl with a passion?? i couldnt stand him back then and i still cant stand him now

watching that game brought back some bad memories -- watching the sonics triple team olajuwon/play illegal defense all game and then have them complain to the league about hakeem's elbows:mad:

remember...this is why we went out and got Chuck Barkely...to beat these fools. and it worked...we did...we just couldn't get past the Jazz.

by the way...this was the summer Apollo 13 came out...how tired was "Houston, you have a problem" during this series? geez.
