That was sweet. I just turned the game back on and heard he was pinch hitting for Everett. I think it was the first pitch and he just creamed it. Makes Williams look like a genius for pinch hitting.
1st and 3rd , 2 out with Berkman up! Lets Go 'stros! edit Berkman doubled Bagwell scored go ahead run! 7-6 good guys!
RBI BERKMAN!!!! ASTROS LEAD!!! Lance with a double!!! Kent to 3rd...bags scores!!! Hidalgo now up to bat!! Bases loaded....they intentially walk Doggy.... Ausmus up with bases loaded...2 outs!
Here we go! Ausmus swung at those outside pitches that the others let by... Wagner coming up for the save. Let's go Billy!! bottom of the 9th is up. Wags couldn't get a save last night....So he better get one tonight!!!
~~~~~~ASTROS WIN!!!~~~~~ It wasn't a 1,2,3 inning but either way Wags got the job done. 7-6, Billy Wagner with the save!! WHOOHOO!!!...what a come back. Vizcaino brought us back into the game with the pinch hit HR, and then Bags scored the go ahead run on Berkman's double. Wags gets his 40th save wich is a new club record!!
Big comeback win for the Astros tonight. I guess Redding's lack of run support for the last month 1/2 was due to Jose Vizcaino being out with an injury. Go Astros!!
No kidding, with out Viz we are dead in the water right now... By the way.... Cubs win 4-3 over Expos Cards about to lose 8-1. Bottom of the 9th.
More on how Greg Zaun single-handedly put a damper on the Cardinals playoff hopes tonight... It turns out, this guy really was honest and all-class when he got shipped out (many of us claimed he was really pissed, and just acted composed in front of the cameras). Heres a quote from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "Personally, I want the Astros to win the Central. I have a lot of friends over there," Zaun said. Pretty much says it all... shows his class, shows the chemistry this team has, and most importantly... shows his desire to beat the Cards these next two games.
Last night it was Greg Zaun... tonight its Scott Elarton trying to become a part of the "ex-Astros to burn the Cardinals" club. He just tried to become a lifetime member by plunking Pujols near the right hand (don't worry... he's fine), but he got out of the inning by getting Renteria to grounout. Scott actually got some life back on that fastball (around 92-93 mph), and he still has a pretty good curve, and above avg. changeup. Too bad for the arm injuries... I remember when he had stuff better than Brad Lidge out of our pen in 98 and 99.
