XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2003 18:10:09 ET XXXXX SECOND BLACK BODYBUILDER CLAIMS SCHWARZENEGGER RACIST COMMENTS **World Exclusive** Another black bodybuilder has come forward claiming that California gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger has a history of making racist comments, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal. Robby Robinson, one of the most respected and well known of all body builders [a former Mr. America, Mr. World and Mr. Universe titleholder], backs up claims made by fellow black bodybuilder Rick Wayne. "No disrespect to fans of Arnold but Rick's claim is in keeping with my experiences with the man," Robinson explains in a message. Robinson says that Schwarzenegger repeatedly directed the term "******" at him. Known throughout his career as "The Black Prince," Robinson continues: "In San Jose at the Russ Warner Classic, as it was called in those days, there was a scene. 7 or 8 of us bodybuilders were invited to guest pose at the show. We were all paid $650.00 to do our thing. "After the show there was a big banquet. We were all dancing having a nice time and in walks Arnold who started shouting out, 'Down with the blacks, ******s this and blacks that,' for about 10 min. "All during this time nobody said a word. "The banquet hall was full of IFFB [International Federation of BodyBuilders] officals. There was a dead silence. You could've heard a pin fall. Everybody in the room was shocked except for me. "All of his hostility and rage was directed at me. For once he got caught out of shape and I was in contest condition. Me being in great shape put him in a bad light and a bad attitude. "In my mind I wanted to bust him up. But that would not have done any good. So with all my intensity bottled inside me I walked out of the room. I'm walking out as he was still in his mode of, down with the blacks, when the silence was broken by Joe Weider's voice telling Arnold to stop. That did no good. He was on a roll by now. I left the banquet and went to my room. "His actions were cowardly and disrespectful. That's why Rick Wayne is speaking out. "During Pumping Iron more racial slurs were directed at me because I walked out of his house refusing to be involved in the movie if we did not get paid something. We ended up getting $100.00 a day but not before more racial slurs of ******-****** were leveled at me for speaking up for myself and the rest of the guys. "What the fans and media don't know is we all then signed $10,000.00 contracts with White Mountain Film Company and Arnold. To this day Arnold has not paid us a dime. I wonder what the value of that contact would be today. BB [body building] has a dark past, it's a tragedy. The Weiders and Arnold have to deal with their ghosts being uncovered."
sounds like a guy desperate for 15 seconds I don't know if Arnold was racist then or not, but the story seems a little contrived. If the story didn't sound made-up I might give it more credibility.
Until verified by a real news source, anything I read on Drudge is just a glamorized rumor. I'm not saying Schwazenegger isn't a racist pig, but that distinction isn't yet warranted.
This was an interview that Drudge conducted with the black bodybuilder in question on his radio show. This isn't simply a case of Drudge spreading a rumor without any basis as he has done before. The question is why would Drudge, a bought and paid for instrument of the far right, put this out against a strong Republican candidate in the middle of an election? The answer could be very interesting...
I don't see how the story sounds made up. The only reason i am skeptical is due to the dubious nature of the source. The story itself sounds like something that could very well have happened.
yeah, stuff like this happens all the time, especially back in those conservative 1970s "After the show there was a big banquet. We were all dancing having a nice time and in walks Arnold who started shouting out, 'Down with the blacks, ******s this and blacks that,' for about 10 min. yeah, every racist I've ever heard uses language like Down with blacks Arnold may be racist, but this guy does not have the sound of credibility. witnesses who report things they heard don't do it like this. they recall specific phrases, and this phrase doesn't sound like one anyone would use.
I don't understand why they have to dig up 30 year old incidents back when Arnold was a 'roided up bodybuilder. There so much they could challenge him on today.
It's possible that Arnold was that way but has changed? Wasn't his dad a Nazi? I think living in American probably changed Arnold. Maybe somebody should talk to Carl Weathers.
Yes stuff like this did happen. How many racist Austrian body builders with a limited grasp of the English language do you know? For all you know "Down with blacks" could be a very popular phrase for racists in Austria. Or its the closest English translation to a popular racist phrase. Whatever the case unless you knew Arnold 30 years ago then you can't say it doesn't sound like something he would say or compare him to your typical American racist. Thats not to say i actually beleive this guy.
Hey GreenVegan, you have any evidence to back up that assertion about Drudge? It's been my experience that he is no less accurate than other media. Could your discontent be that he bucks the liberal trend of mass media?
Do you want to even have this discussion? Drudge is one of the biggest hacks in the business who prints every little bit of gossip and rumor he can. He's got about a .300 batting average on any given day, fine in baseball but not so good in journalism. His "scoops" come from tabloid trash rags around the internet. He regularly runs fake articles, like the one from 1997 accusing former white house counsel sidney blumenthal of being a wife beater: Come on, GreenVegan is actually DEFENDING a Republican candidate here, something he would normally never do. Drudge is a total chump who spreads gossip like a 3rd grade girl and profits off of smearing others. He's a tool whether he's smearing republicans or democrats. Drudge is trying his damnedest to gun down Arnold.. literally minutes after Arnold declared his candidacy for Cali gov. on the Tonight Show, Drudge had a picture of Arnold with a topless girl sitting on his head posted on his website. Drudge is a punk. Plain and simple.
Drudge is conservative. Conservatives oppose Arnold. Therefore, Drudge opposes Arnold. I don't know if Arnold said the things of which he was accused, but I don't discount the possibility. Until I hear something that sounds a little more credible and with corrobation, I'll not give this report any weight. Do I think Arnold is racist? No. Could he have been racist 25 years ago? Absolutely. I mean - come on - he's got Nazis for friends and and ancestors, and while that doesn't mean he's racist, it doesn't make such a thing less likely. I say focus on Arnold in the modern era, what he has done, is doing, and what he stands for. I don't care about his past or present sexual proclivities. I don't care if he did stupid or even racist things 25 years ago IF he has changed his ways. If there is support or corroboration for the story, I'll look at it.
Umm, yeah I do want to have this discussion. For every false column you find me by Drudge, I can find one by a member of the mass media. Sure he has his share of misses, but the conventional media is so biased, that it leads to many falsehoods in everyday reporting. BTW, I don't post a lot, because my opinion is often expressed better than I can do it.

Friendly Fan, I don't mean to target you, I just started reading this board because of the utter lack of activity this offseason, and I hold strong oppinions that tend to disagree with yours, at least so far. BTW, I do have a sense of humor. I just think liberals like yourself are just as insensitive as anyone but never get called on it the way conservatives do.

For every false item by drudge, who has been posting one blog a day for a few years, you can find a false item in one of every several hundred media outlets which produce hundreds of thousands of item each for the last hundred years? I would hope you could or else my faith in the laws of probability would be severely shaken. But at least we got you posting for a change...express yourself, don't let others do it for you.
