Harden just isn't the guy. But when he's on his A game.... just no determination.

 

Your definition of contender for basketball is completely off

 

we showed good energy and we played hard and did some good things and some good stuff. the cavs just played harder

 

the meaning of contender isn't that a team won the title, it is just having the chance to compete for the title

 

Do you even watch the NBA? Lower seeded teams are almost never contenders. Particularly 7th and 8th seeds. There are very rare examples, but even those have huge asterisks. The Rockets in 1995 were the 6th seed and won the title, but were also the defending champs. The Knicks in 1999 were the 8th seed and made it to the Finals, but that was also a 50-game lockout-shortened season. They would've had a better record in a normal 82-game season.

Otherwise nearly every 7th or 8th seed gets their ass kicked in Round 1 by a real contender.

Many small things like Harden taking 7 seconds to bring the ball up past the half court when the team needs a sense of urgency. His **** defensive style of playing pseudo zone just so he can have as minimal movement as possible.

Keep your eye on Harden for a full game. The dude does as much as possible to expend as little caloric energy as possible when the ball is not in his hands. I don't know if he has **** lungs or he's just lazy.

The whole point is about the flagrant absence of effort on the part of these guys. If they play with discipline and tenacity on offense and defense but still lose because their shots aren't falling, then so be it - we lost to a good team and we'll win the next one.

The way they played this game though was just ugly. Regardless of who you've got playing on the floor, you simply cannot come home and lose like this in front of your home crowd against a team that's playing a back-to-back.

yup. thats what these lukewarm announcers would say. i dunno how to argue with someone like that. im not good at explaining past the basics, evne then i have a hard time cuz its the basics but w/e

 

when Harden repeatedly does this crap along with attempting to pass between legs unsuccessfully over and over again it's a MOMENTUM KILLER

 

60% is not nearly every year. If you got that percentage on a test, it means you barely passed. And remember, this is the NBA where 8 out of 15 teams in each conference make the playoffs. So getting to the postseason is no major accomplishment.

You have to be the most naive poster here.

7th and 8th seeds not usually being contenders has everything to do wit the fact that they hardly ever win it all. If the NBA was a NCAA style tournament where it's one and done, sure every one of the 16 teams that make it would have legitimate shots, but in the NBA, you are going to have to be a top 4 seed 98% of the time.

 

Do I think the Mavs are contenders? Obviously far from it but they play better than the Rox.

NO. This is the NBA. What you say is just a playoff team, a sacrificial lamp so as the real contenders can have good practice in the first rounds and get on form.

 

Morey better be on the phone right now with Thibs begging him to come here and not Brooklyn. If JB is satisfied with this performance, we're heading towards a first round sweep.
