Awesome. These are at the top of my list, but I think you mean "Best in Show". Both genius movies. "A Mighty Wind" hits video 9/23.
After awhile, sight gags loose the element of surprise, but "Something About Mary" literally had me rolling on the floor. Golden oldie: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World I liked "Next Friday" better than "Friday" There's an old Richard Pryor movie called "Which Way is Up?" that's Pryor at his best. "Planes, Trains, & Automobiles" holds up well for me.
Nationl Lampoon's Vacation Friday Blazzing Saddles Coming to America Vegas Vacation I have never understood the fascination with "Animal House"
"The Dude abides." I just about die laughing everytime I watch it. Also a huge fan of Peter Sellers and love just about everything he did, from "The Mouse that Roared" to "A Shot in the Dark" and "Dr. Strangelove". Bob*, Rockets2K, Friendly Fan and several others have great picks. I really enjoyed "Freaky Friday", surprisingly enough. Took my kids to see what I thought would be a bore and laughed more than I have in a long time. I haven't seen "The Great Race" mentioned or "Some Like It Hot". I love comedies.
All- Star cast in "The Great Race". Directed by Blake Edwards (10 Bo Derek-Dudley Moore) Another one I forgot was "The Odd Couple" (Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau) I love comedies too.
I still think "Don't Be a Menace (to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood)" is a really underrated comedy. Always has me in stitches whenever I watch it. Also, in the same vein, "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka."
not yet mentioned: Top Secret The Lonely Guy South Park - Bigger, Longer, and Uncut Orgazmo If you can tolerate Barbara Streisand (yuk!) in a movie (she even sings a short song - double yuk!), the other 98% of "What's Up Doc?" is one of the funniest ever. -- droxford
While Peter Sellers was great in Dr. Strangelove, am I the only one who enjoyed George C. Scott's peformance more? That's like one of my favorite comedic performances of all time. His facial expressions alone crack me up.
MESSAGE! That was a great movie, and so was Friday. No, I have to leave. There can't be any positive female role models in these movies.
Speaking of which, when Kim Wayans played the hottie who owned the beauty shop in POETIC JUSTICE, that red dress and how she filled it had me worshipping that booty. She is hot. I'd give up being single for her. That chick has always turned me on. Not too "pretty" but very attractive. Full lips, ta-dow eyes, and a badunkadunk behind.
Animal House (have to agree it's in a class by itself) Other favorites: American Pie (the original) Airplane Dumb and Dumber Meet the Parents Heathers (good black comedy) Other decent ones - time will tell if they make my all-time favorites list: Road Trip Office Space Half Baked National Lampoon (Vacation or Christmas Vacation)
yeah, I love Half Baked, Don't be a Menace... and South Park the movie, all classics. Black Sheep with Farley, Spade, and Gary Busey was also a gem.
hehe, yeah I was watching it the other day on HBO for the first time. I like the the old wise narrator chinese guy that talks through the movie. And how about his woman in it, "Chosen one...oooweee oooweee.." LOL
Crap I forgot to mention Friday! I was watching that the other day on Starz also. That is probably one of the top 5 funniest movies of all time. Can't believe I also forgot: Meet the Parents Theres Something About Mary Dumb And Dumber Me, Myself & Irene Rat Race Home Alone (I can never tire of seeing daniel stern scream like a little girl during the spider part.)
Three Amigos Ace Ventura : Pet Detective Happy Gilmore Billy Madison Tommy Boy Black Sheep ...and the Dallas Cowboys' last 4 seasons.
