The Iraqi Security Forces are stretched thin trying to take Ramadi and Mosul. Baghdad is vulnerable. Iraq cannot raise another 50k troops. None of their neighbors are going to come to the rescue. What you see is what you get.

EDIT: There were other attacks as well.

Multiple jihadist attacks kill more than 30 in Iraq

Baghdad (AFP) - Jihadist gunmen and bombers killed at least 12 people in a busy market area of Baghdad while a double blast at a cafe north of the Iraqi capital claimed another 20 lives.

An attack claimed by the Islamic State group and involving suicide explosions, gunfights and hostage-taking in the eastern neighbourhood of Baghdad al-Jadida wreaked chaos.

"A car came... gunmen came out of it and spread out. They started shooting, killing people, there were lots of dead people," said a witness, Salman Hussein.

[rQUOTEr]Sunni mosques in east Iraq attacked after IS-claimed blasts

At least seven Sunni mosques and dozens of shops in eastern Iraq were firebombed on Tuesday, security sources and local officials said, a day after 23 people were killed there in two blasts claimed by Islamic State.

Ten people were also shot and killed in Muqdadiya, 80 km (50 miles) northeast of Baghdad, security and hospital sources said.

LOL, so now we're back to blaming Bush for pulling the troops out prematurely? Things change so often it's hard to keep up, sometimes you crazy kids are giving Obama credit for that, sometimes you are blaming Bush for it.

Either way, I agree that it was a disastrous decision and what is happening in Iraq was very predictable. The new Iraqi government wasn't smart enough to know that they needed the US troops to stay....but listening to them was like a parent listening to a small child tell you that they don't need you anymore. It's unacceptable neglect if you listen to them and they suffer for it.

Good try, I blame Dubya for destroying Iraq and leaving a failed state.

Are you back to we should have an occupation of Iraq that lasts for a generation or two just to try to contain Dubya's folly, which you and Hillary backed?

The US has been occupying Japan, South Korea, and Germany for over a generation. The US has hundreds of military bases in dozens of countries.

With regards to Iraq, it is an all or nothing approach. Sending 500 advisers won't do it. Honestly, for some people in this forum, if the Middle East is set on fire and the price of oil goes $500+, you probably won't hear too much complaining.

The State wasn't failed until Obama showed up... but regardless of who's fault it is it certainly is now and I really don't see that Obama gives a $h!t.

and you being one of his fanboys I'm not sure why you do either?

None of those would be considered an occupation

Nothing came as a surprise , the results of today were pre-planed , meant to create this Chaos .its hard to think it was pure stupidness or complete innocence

Condolezza rice herself described the plan as no plan, she called it "Distractive Chao "

dismantling entire country public institutions ,army, police and millions of people within a day they became unemployed .

When you withdraw from area because Clerc Sadder was sensitive of American troops presence .and US consults Sistani on every single moves
But on other hand , you wipe the entire city of Falujja ,because they had a dozen of insurgents .

When you close the entire borders with allies- countries like Jordan,KSA and Turkey, but you allow your soldiers to watch thousands of armed militants cross Iraqi/Iranians border.

When Al-Malki under the US watch and protection from the Green Zone ordered his special forces and militias to go after ethnic cleansing and American troops just watched with little or no complain.

And when Al-Maliki him self had several complaints of Assad of Syria opening his jails to release his terrorists prisoners to go to Iraq, no one actually cared. It was an external problem in which a duty of Khamini to resolve between his allies .

When Iranians assassinated college professors ,pilots ,engineers , clerks ,tribes ,nationalist Mullas leader ,former army personal under your own occupations...then it's just a coordination

When Sunnies started to reorganize gorillas and resistance group , for self protection, someone sip coffee with joy.., when finally Qaida and then ISIS and 42 Shiea militias and revolutionary guards found a new home in Iraq then you called it...oh..sectarian violence , it's there 2nd nature:confused:

When billions of $ went missing, there was no one to point fingers to?

Things went as deliberately progressed as it was planed , both Bush or Obama are clueless on foreign policy , these strategic institutions populated around Washington DC had the ultimate yay or nay over every crucial strategies. Check their names and you won't be surprised why things went this bad.

They were all full blown occupations. But Germany and Japan were sufficiently shamed and defeated, as well as being culturally and/or commercially amenable to our help. We also had Deming and Marshall on the same payroll, people like that nowadays make too much money in the private sector to have slapfights with Cheney or Rumsfeld.

The people of Japan, Germany and South Korea were always capable of having their own advanced civilization. It was easy for them to integrate into the global culture and contribute towards the progression of it.

Muslim majority countries... well. Major reform is needed, starting with a ban on inbreeding that leads to poor cognitive ability and constant feelings of hatred.
