And that's how I feel. And that's why I don't think Crowder is attainable. I don't want to burn one of Capela/DMo on Crowder.
If I were them, I'd be making a hard run at Boogie, but I don't think Sacramento will trade him with them being so close to the playoffs. Dwight is more of a backup plan, but you're right that it makes more sense as a "win now" type move. I could even see it evolving into a big 3 team deal: HOU IN: Lee, Bradley, Crowder, Jerian Grant NYK IN: Amir Johnson, Marcus Smart, TJones, Nets 2016 1st BOS IN: Howard, Melo, Ariza, Thornton Boston Thomas / Terry Turner / Thornton Ariza / Melo Melo / Sullinger Dwight / Olynyk New York Smart / Calderon Galloway Afflalo / Porzingis / TJones Lopez / Johnson Houston Bradley / Beverley / Grant Harden / Lawson / McDaniels Crowder / Brewer / Dekker DMo / Lee Capela / Harrell
That's tricky. Boston wouldn't just do a Crowder for Ariza swap, so you'd have to "sweeten" the pot. The problem is that Boston is the king of "sweeteners", so I'm not sure how Houston puts together an attractive package for Crowder without Dwight involved.
Came to this post to suggest we should look into trading for Crowder... Glad we're all on the same page!
I stopped watching Rockets games week ago. Did I miss something? Are we in OFFICIAL tank mode? Why do you want to trade Dwight? __________________ I am DMO only fan Anything negative you say about DMo will insult me personally. We Are The Houston Crickets - Loud & Harmless Because dude sucks monkey balls.
I'm not for trading Dwight. But if we can get something good for Ariza, then I would be for trading for Crowder. And yes I would give up Dmo or Capella for Crowder.
I'd probably hold off on Capela, but would move DMo. In my view, looking at the long-term and ignoring any possibility of this team making a legitimate title run this year by virtue of some other major personnel moves, Capela is the replacement for Dwight. He's not Dwight, and will never be quite what Dwight is, but he's the replacement because of salary. The trade presented - Dwight, Ariza, and TJones for Lee, Bradley and Crowder - is in the right ballpark but I think gives up too much value. If one says Ariza = Crowder effectively even though Crowder is better this year its an up year for him and down for Ariza, then you are moving Dwight/TJones for Avery and Lee, and that's not fair value at all. If the Celtics want to add in the Nets pick they own, which is this year's first, unprotected, then I'm on board. Crowder is also not tradeable until the 15th I think.
Dmo or Capela for Crowder? You mean the future possible allstar if healthy, or the future dominant big of the rockets? U trippin m8
I'd prefer to move DMo for Crowder, but ultimately if it cost us Capella I would do it IF we were able to get something good for Ariza.
Rockets offense is really potent when Harden and Terry are meshing. So yeah, finding the "next" Jason Terry, a "2 guard" in a PG's body to pair with Harden would be great. And if they are 2-way, even better. Oladipo could fit that bill.
I would move mountains, whatever it takes, to pry Lowry away from Toronto. I can't think of anyone (outside of Draymond Green) who can affect an entire team's attitude the way he can. And the fit with Harden is perfect to me. However the team fills out outside of Lowry, Harden and Howard is fine with me. Go into free agency next year with Lowry and Harden on the cheap and Dwight off the books ready to resign after we get another max guy and fill out our roster.
Agree with this. I like Crowder, but DMo and Capela both have higher ceilings. Capela needs more time. He's already #14 in the league in defensive real plus/minus...tied with Noah. He may not be quite ready to take over the starting spot, but he will be next season. Bottom line, Dwight is only going to continue to deteriorate and Capela is only going to keep getting better (he's 21 after all). Capela may not have prime-Dwight's upside, but he's better suited for the modern game and he will likely be a top 10 center within the next 2 years. Coming into the season, I was really looking forward to seeing how DMo and Capela meshed....I still am. On paper they should fit perfectly: their strengths compliment each other, and each of their weaknesses are the other's strengths. Also, neither are ball stoppers.
It'd cost quite the package. Have to be a 3 team trade. Lemme mess with the trade machine real quick: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine this is the most realistic situation I see here... not too great lol
Houston sends: Dwight Howard, Ty Lawson Houston receives: Jrue Holiday, Ryan Anderson, Marcus Morris, Alex Len New Orleans sends: Jrue Holiday, Ryan Anderson, Kendrick Perkins New Orleans receives: Dwight Howard Phoenix sends: Marcus Morris, Alex Len Phoenix receives: Ty Lawson, Kendrick Perkins Rockets do it for the retooling process. Pelicans do it as a drastic change after the horrible start to the season. Suns do it as a precaution after the Bledsoe injury and hopes that Lawson betters the offense by taking the ball away from Knight. Holiday | Beverley Harden | Thornton Ariza | Morris | Brewer Anderson | Jones | Harrell Capela | Len | Motiejunas To me that's a start to surrounding this team with players who are better equipped to play with Harden. The step after this would be dealing Jones, Brewer, and maybe Ariza for better wing depth.
I love this trade, it's very imaginative. Rockets can get what they need, other teams can take whatever. It's a great trade.
Don't know the salaries but I can see Dwight going to Brooklyn with maybe Ty & Ariza for Lopez & Joe Johnson.
Here we go: Rockets get: Lou Williams + crap player(s) to make the salaries work Lakers get: Lawson + Montrezl Harrell + Dekker Why it happens: From the Lakers perspective, they owe the Sixers a top 1-3 protected this year and a non-protected pick next season. They can do the Kobe farewell tour and still be even more terrible because this is the season for them to suck. Lawson can either be a half season rental or a cheap vet on a rebuilding team as I don't see him returning to his past form consistently. Lastly, Harrell and Dekker are young pieces on rookie contracts that may turn into roles players with Harrell being the most likely. From the Rocket's perspective, they need to give Harden some help on the offensive side so he doesn't have any excuses left to not be playing at least average defense. Harden has been top 5 in minutes and usage since he has been a Rocket with a play style that requires a lot contact. We need to give Harden a break offensively so he has more energy for the other things and the post season, assuming the Rockets make it. Lou Williams has made buckets for bad and mediocre teams, Lakers and Sixers respectively and good teams like the Hawks and Raptors recently. He's won and played the 6th man title throughout his career and I believe he is the type of good who can play off of Harden and can run the bench and shoot when Harden is off the floor.
