Cooking Quuestion: Boiling Chicken in water....

    How long do I have to boil a chicken (chicken breasts) until they are fully cooked? Making Enchiladas tonight, and just realized i didnt know this...

    depends on how much chicken
    If it is boneless i think it is about 20-30 minutes. The chicken will turn white and after it does boil it a few minutes longer. To checj it youjust pull a piece out and cut into it and make sure it isn't pink inside.

    Just remember that it is hard to over cook chicken by boiling it, but easy to undercook it.

    boil it until the meat starts to seperate from the bone.

    this is a good sign it's ready.

    For boneless chicken breasts, put the chicken breasts in cold water and bring water to a boil. The chicken breasts should be completely covered in water. I generally cook 2 chicken breasts at a time. Once the water is boiling, turn off the stove and keep the pot covered. Let it sit for 10 minutes and the chicken should be done. I usually let it sit a bit longer just to be safe.
