Why do people do this? I dont like metal or rock or country but you dont see me barging into those threads ****ting on the genre.
Lol I was being sarcastic. I know these rappers aren't up to those standards. Personally my favorite is oddisee right now based on last years albums. Also, scarface album was dope last year too! Waiting for Nas to drop a new album after that life is good, he has not been active.

you don't? the biggest problem with rap is that it is such a devoid medium. Think about it, the most celebrated bar last year was Kendrick Lamar calling out other rappers for their lack of skillz on the mic (and proclaiming he is the king of new york). Really? also, any rapper from the hood talking about Vietnam and Auschwitz need to really reevaluate their priorities. rap is not important and it will never be important music until it gets out the same old brag about this and that, talk about beefs, talk about sexual prowess with women and then talking about Vietnam, talk about smoking weed. Give me a break. Of course, Tupac and Arrested Development and others were important artists with voices, but 99% are perpetuating a stereotype to make money. When you are 40 years old and still listening to rap to direct your life goals, you probably need a wake up call.
I'd argue that if you are not a musician and are using music to direct your life goals at any age, you need a wake up call. Your post is beyond cliche, so my response will be as well. There is plenty of important rap music - you're just not listening to it.
So, explain to me why--with all this great rap out there, that the journalist and music execs who cover this music, picks kendrick lamar's verse as the most important rap verse bar all last year? Basically calling out other rappers and claiming he is the king of new york. Face it man, you may like this music, but it is devoid of anything important. Period.
What a weird, specific thing to focus on. Who cares what journalists say is the most important 'verse bar?' To any rap fan, that was news for maybe a week. What's the most important rock verse of 2015? Country? Maybe verses aren't as relevant in those genres - I googled most important rock/country songs and nothing came up...I guess those are devoid of anything important as well. I don't care if you like rap or not. Or even if you post in a rap thread or not. But to repeatedly come in the thread and deride a whole genre of music that you clearly don't understand? Get off your high horse.
Well, that was unexpected. That's my favorite album from last year. Highly slept on. Repped. Did you go see him a few months ago at House of Blues?
I was going to make another thread asking if rap would even exist without suburban white kids buying up the music. There is a weird schizophrenia behind the idea that rappers rap about stuff that sells (the thug lifestyle) and white kids buying it up in droves. Black face? A modern day minstrel show? Hell, DJ Paul says that 90 pecent of his audience is white kids. lol.
